OT: French Open Update: Nadal escapes upset

Submitted by samber2009 on

The big American, John Isner, is stumping Nadal in their first round match at the French. Isner has won the last 2 sets in tiebreaks and it helps he is 6'9" and has one of the best serves.  I'm torn. I like Nadal but this is massive.

UPDATE: Nadal forces his first EVER 5th set at the French. He wins despite Novak level of grit from Isner.

Isner has always given Nadal a tough time. His height really neutralizes Nadal's biggest weapon, his topspin forehand. Here is to hoping his nerves don't get the best of him.

This would be an amazing upset. I was around when Isner was signing autographs once and all these little kids kept yelling "Go Bulldogs!" trying to get a response from him. When he got to me I just said "Well, I'm a Michigan fan." He said "ehhh." To which I replied "Gators suck though" and he said "yes they do." A fun little convo. I was also on a thing where you had to reach down to get them to sign your stuff and I barely had to reach cuz the guy is huge.

Is it possible for a woman to have a premature uh ...celebration?

I think I need a fix, because finding out a girl just had a post with "BIg John", "Stumping", "massive" and "torn" in the text and she also jinxed it with a premature celebration is SUPER HOT!!!

I don't think I jinxed the number 1 player in the world into beating an unseeded American on clay. As i said, I like Nadal, but the fact he was losing in the 1st round is a big deal to tennis fans.

His serve was a cannon as usual, but what I noticed was his play at the net.  Maybe it's only because he is a giant, but Nadal seemed to have a lot more trouble than usual making passing shots.  Awesome match, especially for a first round!

Isner is a rad dude and a True American Hero but, let's be honest here, for the good of the tournament Nadal needed to win this match.  Gots to have that Nadal/Djokovic final, just gotsta!

Here's hoping Big John makes a run at Wimbledon.
