OT-Former Oregon Duck FB Player says he was promised house/car

I think this is okay for in-season. If not, apologies and please delete. I ran across this story and did not see it posted. It will certainly garner some attention while they sort out the validity of the claims. Colt Lyerla, former TE from Oregon claims he was offered expensive things from a booster while he was being recruited by the University. He ultimately played three years at Oregon, and never received the gifts. http://www.foxsports.com/college-football/story/colt-lyerla-former-oreg…

The cocaine deal violates criminal statutes; the house and car would violate NCAA regs.

I don't think any court would confuse the NCAA with a state legislature and find that its regulations established public policy.

It's Bylaw 13.2, I believe, tht covers offers and inducements, and cars and housing are among those specifically prohibited, but yeah, the tone of the language would indicate that the goods need to appear for this to be a violation. The closest you can get, I think, is if the institution deems it necessary to rent out extra living space for student-athletes, but that's a far cry from a house and a car.

His lips are moving.

As a Michigan grad living in Portland, I can tell you that the noveau football world that is Oregon is painful to be around.  However, Lyerla has been in the paper a ton here and he is basically a showboat and a liar.   Don't get me wrong - I am sure that a lot of funny business happens around that program but I wouldn'y believe anything that came from that source.

They have agents recruit and pay the players. How soon most of us forget. This isn't frowned upon by the NCAA or Laquon.
