OT: Former MSU assistant accused of involvement in Miami case

Title pretty much says it all. Jeff Stoutland, former MSU and Miami assistant (now at Alabama) is accused of bringing recruits to Shapiro's house for a recruiting pitch.  Seems like it may be a small role in the grand scheme of things, but still possibly releveant.  Truthfully, I went to Miami for undergrad and am just grasping at straws to find anything that's not awful news right now.  Yes, a former assistant from my school who participated in recruiting violations being a former assistant from one of my team's rivals is the best I can do for "not awful news" for me.

If this somehow linked MSU to cheating and paying players than phenomenal and as much as I want them get crushed with something like this, I don't think any of that has gone on in EL.

It would be nice if the stink wafted to the strip mall called "MSU", but the minimal association is still fun.  MSU's coaching tree is tied into the two biggest scandals in college sports.  Good times.

If this is linked to MSU in some way, absent last year, it would indicate MSU does a generally terrible job of cheating.

The academic fraud under George Perles in the mid 90s should have been your first clue that they are terrible at cheating.

How are these things related? Is something going to happen to her? Is she going to be devestated at the possible career damage to her uncle? Will you badger her about questions about her uncle until she leaves for a new job?

Personally I think the mere association should be worth a bowl ban or at least force MSU to account for how they use jail as a place to keep players until right before they're playing.

Or not, I suppose. Hopefully you got to party with Nevin Shapiro while at the U.

On a side note, has anyone else been adding up all this spending on players in their head and coming short of a couple million until they realize "oh, that's right, drugs" and continue on with their day?

I think it is more telling that Stoutland, along with a 2nd Miami assistant (don't know his name) who was named by Shapiro as knowing about the scandal both ended up with Saban and Alabama.
