OT: Fire on North Campus
Just say an alert get flashed out about a fire on North Campus, but no details. Anyone up there know what is burning?
You can see smoke from the Med Center. Rising off just to the left of the water tower. It was a pretty darn big cloud and a bunch of fire trucks hauled up that way. Smoke is petering out now.

Where'd you see the alert? I'm a little bit east of the water tower on Plymouth Road, and can't see anything. Tempted to go for a drive.

I can still see smoke. Brown and a bit hard to make out but a nice steady plume. I don't know if the official system has triggered. I just heard the paramedics radios go off and a couple of them headed for the ambulance.

I'm on North right now in Chrysler waiting for a review session to start and I did not see any smoke on my way in, nor has there been any kind of alarm or anything like that for us to get out.

don't mean to be creepy, but I'm pretty sure you and I were in the same review session.

The big fire is at the north campus research complex on the southeast orner of plymouth and huron pkwy. So not on the actual campus campus. It looks like one of the old pfizer buildings. A ton of smoke, hopefully everyones alright.

Isn't that now part of the Campus? I thought U of M reached an agreement to buy it a couple of years back.
November 1st, 2010 at 5:39 PM ^
Yes it is uofm now. That portion of Pfizer has been turned into the North Campus Research Center, but it is slightly away from the rest of North Campus diag area, so as not as much of an immediate worry for the majority of the mgousers.
