OT: Finalizing my youth team's name

Hey guys,

So all we have left with my youth FB team is to name it. I'm really down to two options - Wolverines or Pirates/Raiders.

I'm partial to Wolverines for the obvious, plus we'll be running some single wing and UM was great at that under Fritz, plus Bellevue (WA, Steve Schilling's school) is the Wolverines and they've won a bunch of state titles running a system like ours, plus wolverines are nasty. We don't have winged helmets though.

The pirate names would be great since with Mike Leach getting fired we need new pirate captains all over America to carry on his legacy. Raiders would also allued to the Civil War cavalry history in my area. Plus it's fun to say "arrrrrr!"

How about the Pirate Wolverines?  Your mascot could be a Wolverine with an eye patch.  Boom!  Pirate'd.

Think you read it too fast/I wasn't clear. I grew up in Bellevue, though I did not go to BHS, and they are a successful program running our system and are the Wolverines. But we're on the other coast. Bellevue has winged hats too.

Go with that the kids want.  We don't want some future 5 Star to have an unreasonable grudge against the Wolverines because his youth coach forced him to be one.  Of course my kids voted on the name "MegaRoboSharks", so democracy does have its flaws.

I assume the "General Shermans" is off the table?

We had this problem with my kid's YMCA Guides tribe name. There are ways to steer the results away from undesirable names (say buckeyes or fairy princesses). Try a secret ballot by facing the fence, closing eyes and raising hands ...

That said, the three options all sound cool enough.
