OT: Final Four Open Thread

Submitted by M-Wolverine on

Well, now that everyone's pool has exploded, I'm not excited by the way these games match up. The two established cheater vs. each other, and Cinderella's fighting over the slipper. It'd be easier to root if say, VCU was playing Kentucky, and Butler against U-Conn. (Or if Kansas was still alive. Stupid Jayhawks). But this is how they brackets played out. I hope we can just get some great basketball.

Yeah, it might be kind of fun to have Butler and VCU on opposite sides of the bracket. But the good thing is that one of them is guaranteed to have a shot at the championship. If they didn't play each other today, you'd have the possibility of a UConn/Kentucky final, and that would be unpleasant.

I dont know how much I will watch. Neither game really interests me much. I like that Kentucky beat osu so theres that. Wonder what Michigan would have done in Butler or VCU's side of the bracket?

is unique. Once it tips it's hard to take your eyes off it. The cheater factor is in play, as neither UK or OConn are really in my good graces. But I have also noticed a direct correlation in teams between amount of cheating and amount of awesome to watch so maybe it will actually be pretty a pretty good matchup. The banners will all come down, but still......

Oddly enough, I have Kentucky and Uconn in my final four. I need UConn to win their final four game then lose in the championship in order to win my bracket, so I still have something at stake in these last few games.

The guy I'm trailing to can't get any more points, and I have UConn in my championship game (losing to Kansas, ha) and them winning their final four game gets me first place. However, someone else who is trailing both of us could win by having UConn win it all, so I need UConn to only win one. It's strange, and pretty indicative of how ridiculous March Madness has been this year.

I needed Kansas to win, but NOT beat NC. Had another who would win if Kansas lost to anyone but NC, someone if NC beat Kansas, and then someone who won if anything else happened, like VCU ending it all before the pool began. He's 7, and went to ToysRUs today. Sigh.
And these 4 posts probably interested no one but the 2 of us.

I like how aggressive VCU is playing, but until the last couple minutes it seemed like they were getting away with a bunch of fouls. Nice to see the refs started calling them.

So i saw a news report that said that Matt Howard's family only made it to Houston for the Final Four because people from there hometown gave them the money to pay for it. Isn't that an NCAA violation? Isn't that pretty much one of the things that Michigan got in trouble for?

I guess I'm rooting for Butler because I think they have a better chance to win the next one. (Built to take on the big boys without being hot, and being the MOST experienced team in the FF).
And as I say that, VCU 4 point play shot.

If Tennessee is still looking for a head coach they should offer a ton of money to Butler's coach.

Thus eliminating them from either of these coaches. Oh, Sparty!....uh, I mean, Volly...no...doesn't really work either...

Bothers me less than Kentucky, mainly due to the fact at least the Huskies used to drive Duke nuts back in the day, the Wildcats catch back up. Though they would make the best villain Butler could face since at least...last year, when they played Duke in the championship. Though more chance to choke (still pissed at Calipari making me lose my pool when he was at U-Mass).
