Just went to espn.com at work, noticed a historic update brewing at Wimbledon. Federer down 2 sets, I'll be following this pulling for the comeback.
Mike Lantry, 1972
so clutch --saved triple break pt and then another. Anybody want to bet against him right now??
Edit: And he's taken the 3rd set. Once he saved break point and pumped himself up with the first "COME ON" it was over
Falla is doing an amazing job of directing probably 80-90% to Fed's weaker backhand
and....down a break. Fed needed to step on the throat there and now he's in for a battle
(insert Mortal Kombat kill move here)
he's lookin like Tiger on front nine yesterday...
like tiger's back nine on saturday. cheers Fed, wimbledon definitely more enjoyable to watch with you in the draw.
and up 15-0
EDIT: Federer breaks and stays alive.
this is where most guys tighten up and whe Fed usually steps it up
Falla absolutely choked that game away. Always tough to close out the great ones.
Looks like Falla is kicking away his chance at a great upset.
4-1 in the breaker. just one mini-break but it has to feel like so much more after all those missed oppertunities to Falla
5-1 basically ends this set. Interesting to see if Falla can hang in there in the 5th
Federer wins the 4th set tiebreaker 7 - 1
Looks like he will avoid one of the greatest upsets of all time.
All but a formality now with Fed up 4-0 in the 5th. Gotta give credit to both guys. Falla had won six games in five sets against Federer, and Fed did what he always seems to do -- step it up when it matters most. Survive and Advance, like Cilic and Davydenko are also trying to do as both fell behind two sets to love as well
After pushing Federer all day it's too bad that it is going to end without Falla even winning a game in the 5th.
