OT: FBI may or may not have arrested someone in Boston.
http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2013/04/17/source-arrest-made-in-boston-bombing/ CNN has since backed off this claim. http://www.cnn.com/2013/04/17/us/boston-blasts/index.html
Or so goes the urban legend. They even charge the condemned's family for the bullet(s) to do the job.
...but I hope people see that we don't want to be more like China in terms of our criminal justice system - although we lock up a much higher rate of our population than they do, so maybe there is something to be said for their way...
He's all about emulating the Chinese... Only the "acceptable" parts, I'm sure.
And, (tongue firmly in cheek) while their prison population is lower than ours, their mortuary business is booming.
their isn't.
in fact, it's them with N. Korea and us in the capital punishment sweepstakes, year in and year out.
This isn't weeks later, and it was kind of a big deal. I don't see a problem with this. I love the Tigers, but I certainly think this is more interesting/important than a Tigers-Mariners update.
I agree, which is why I'd prefer there not be a thread every time the Tigers play either... :)
It just feels like most days there's some sort of news that's a big deal, but there are endless other sites where one could go to get that information besides a Michigan sports blog.
is an absolute embarrassment
Irresponsible journalism. CNN in a rush to be first got it wrong. Listen to them on TV and they are in full scale retreat right now.
OP was only reporting what was inaccurately reported. Not the first time this has happened on the blog.
You are 100% correct on that point.
I wouldn't have clicked it if it had been edited.
Richard Jewell is probably rolling over in his grave right now.
but I did provide a link. Originaly I thought that I wouldn't be able to find one because it had been so recent.
How have you had an account since 2011 and still don't know how to use the reply button?
Have my little mods gone?
Oh where, oh where, can they beeeeeeee?
the FBI may or may not have arrested someone in Boston.
Is this like a verbal commitment to arrest a person of interest?
I thought it was pretty important since NBC cut into network t.v.
To those of you dreaming up punishments I say; what in the fuck is wrong with YOU people?
And to every crazy, disgusting and horrible thing that pops into your head to do to this hypothetical terrorist try imagining yourself being the one who has to do it. Better yet imagine your precious children being the ones who have to do it. Day in day out, every day for the rest of their lives. The death penalty, torture or any of those things is completely the wrong answer to the question of how we deter this type of activity.
Some are born strong. Some weak. You have to make your own distinction of where you fall.
A.) Talk is cheap.
B.) A deliberate and humane justice system is one of THE MOST central aspects of what the United States is about (See: The Bill of Rights). If you don't like it pick up a stone and join your friends over in some 2nd world society.
Everyone finds out everything as soon as someone says it. There have been so many false stories coming out of just this story. Suicide bombers, other bombs, suspects arrested, 12 people dead, etc.
News people are a bit too quick to go "FIRST!!1"
