OT: Favorite Non-Michigan College Players
Obviously everyone on here is a die hard Michigan fan, but I'm guessing that I'm not going to far out on a limb here to say that most are also fans of the college football game in general. I was wondering who were some of the college players who didn't play for Michigan that you loved to watch. I personally died a little watching Dennis Dixon shread Michigan for some million or so yards, but have to admit, it was very entertaining to watch him do it to others. Also, Percy Harvin and Pat White were fun to watch as they seemed to be deadly from anywhere on the field. Definately a good place to post some wicked youtube moments of your favorite players. Also, this is a selfish endeavour, as the off season has left me watching countless hours of Michigan on youtube, and I feel like I should branch out some more.
Colt McCoy and Sam Bradford were two excellent college quarterbacks.
I really liked Sproles, and now Devine and V. Smith. I like short RBs. I also like Jerrod Johnson.
Barry Sanders and Ricky Williams
Mark Ingram (you can never count on first contact to do him in)
Vince Young
Steve Smith (USC)
Georgia Tech's entire offense this year
I know I shouldn't say this, but I also thought that Troy Smith was amzing to watch.
Pooh Bear Williams...simply because of the way Keith Jackson would get so excited when he came in and would say his name in that ridiculous voice. Plus, the dude was like 450 lbs and he played running back.
Darren Sproles, Troy Davis and any little feisty, speedy running back that got no respect.
Any game from the 90s that pitted the Florida teams against each other. They wanted to kill each other and it was awesome to watch. Those games were great until about 2001 or 2002.
Jake the Snake Plummer -Arizona State 1996.
USC - Reggie Bush. Mike Williams. I don't care.
Brady Quinn. Jimmmeh - I'm kidding. They were awful.
Shit I just love watching college football. Nothing more American, brother.
It'll kind of be cool to see Landry Jones and Garrett Gilbert play at UT and OU after being pressed into less-than-ideal circumstances (although I'm pulling for Jones and not Gilbert, Boomer Sooner). I like Lewis at Pittsburgh too, he reminds me a lot of Mike Hart. Also: North Carolina's entire defense.
Mark Ingram
Colt McCoy
Ryan Mallett
Derrick Brooks
Peter Warrick
Joey Harrington (sorry Lions fans)
Ken Dorsey
Ricky Williams
Ted Ginn was amazing in college. He was easily the fastest player I have ever watched.
I'm a sucker for speedsters.
I have always loved players who perfect the kind of speedy utility role such as Reggie Bush, Devin Hester, Ginn, Dexter McCluster, and Percy Harvin. It would be awesome for UM to grab a guy like that, or perhaps have a guy like Gallon develop into one.
At the time my hometown Youngstown State Penguins were the cream of the crop in D2 so i stayed up on highlights and stats and when i got the chance to see them play Alcorn State Steve Air McNair was amazing ... if he threw for under 400yds it was a off day.
And i hate to say it but watching Reggie Bush was exciting ...LaDanian Tomlinson.. Marshall Faulk..Tommy Frazier
Pat White,
Pat Fitzgerald
Roy Williams the safety
Adrian Peterson
Keith Jackson
(and I actually don't like Oklahoma)
Short kid from LSU shows great heart. Duke told him he was too small to play football but good ol Les gave him a chance.
gotta love their football ineptitude, now if only their b-ball team would follow suit.
Bruce Gradkowski - QB - Toledo
Jeremy Maclin - WR - Missouri
Bruce Gradkowski IS my college days epitomized. Beating #9 Pittsburgh in 2003 and running rampant over the entirety of the MAC for four years. Even some Heisman discussion Junior year. I love how he used to put it up almost 70 times a game.
V.S. #9 Pitt in 2003.
Bruce Gradkowski | 49/62 | 461 | 7.4 | 3 | 1 |
And Jeremy Maclin?
Yeah, the dude was just a solid mass of muscle that could juke out of your way and then burn you like whoa.
Got to see him play Central his senior year. He made some amazing throws that game, despite the windy conditions.
A few weeks later, he gutted it out against Akron after being knocked out of the game earlier. I remember his linemen carrying him down the field after each play, because he couldn't really walk.
For what it is worth, I really liked watching Darren McFadden. The fact that he had 7 passing TDs his last 2 years in college made him a lot of fun to watch.
Earl Campbell and the tearaway jersey for Texas was pretty awesome.
Hoops would be Magic and it isn't even close.
Lavar Arrington, that dude was scary in college. Also mentioned way above the best "Blue Collar" LB Chris Spielman. Also way before my time but Dick Butkus (ILL) Nuf said.
Raghib Ismail was really fun to watch ... though frustrating for a Michigan fan.
Michael Bishop - that year in 1998 they had something going at KSU, until Texas A&M derailed them, and Purdue took care of them in a bowl game.
Oh, and another that won't please most, but when their games were televised (which wasn't often) Armanti Edwards - kid could just flat out play.
Going to miss watching him destroy the MAC. Also liked Pat White.
The guy is an absolute beast.
Billy Sims. Tony Dorsett. Herschel Walker.
I shall be a Reggie Ball and Chris Rix fan for life!
I really liked Ken Dorsey and both of those Miami teams. Dorsey to Andre Johnson was awesome in NCAA 2003.
