OT: Favorite Non-Michigan College Players

Submitted by Hail-Storm on

Obviously everyone on here is a die hard Michigan fan, but I'm guessing that I'm not going to far out on a limb here to say that most are also fans of the college football game in general.  I was wondering who were some of the college players who didn't play for Michigan that you loved to watch.  I personally died a little watching Dennis Dixon shread Michigan for some million or so yards, but have to admit, it was very entertaining to watch him do it to others. Also, Percy Harvin and Pat White were fun to watch as they seemed to be deadly from anywhere on the field. Definately a good place to post some wicked youtube moments of your favorite players. Also, this is a selfish endeavour, as the off season has left me watching countless hours of Michigan on youtube, and I feel like I should branch out some more.

Mardy Gilyard, for being a classy, think-of-someone-other-than-yourself kind of guy when he went and apologized to the little kid in the stands that he accidentally trucked even though he obviously couldn't have helped it and nobody would have blamed him.

Desean Jackson. Everytime he touched the ball you got the feeling he would house it. Not to mention he basically told Pete Carrol and SC to go fuck themselves when he was being recruited.

I am excited about the young group of running backs we have right now, but reruns of some of the games he played as a freshman prove he had the right talent for this system, and would have complimented either QB this year. Agree with hoping to see him do well as an Owl.

except for on January 1, 2005.  Still.  Whoa.

Mike Vick.

Charlie Ward/Peter Warrick/Derrick Brooks from those great FSU teams.

Pat White/Steve Slaton combo.

Larry Fitzgerald.

Va Tech special teams, esp. when someone else is trying to punt.

And dare I say it.  Tim Tebow.

I concur with your statement that everyone on here is a die hard Michigan fan...especially Irish.  He just pretends to like ND, since we all know, no one likes Notre Dame.

As for my favorite players, I loved Ricky Williams when he was at Texas.  Currently I enjoy Noel Devine and as much as I hate to admit it....Terrell Pryor, he just is in a total different league when it comes to athleticism.

Honestly, Pryor is incredibly frustrating to watch.  I hate OSU as much as the next guy, but he turtles right before contact in a manner best described as Claude Lemieux'ian.  That's not so bad, except he does all the time with one yard to go for a first down.

I assumed it was just me as a Michigan fan, but my OSU fan cousins think the same thing.

Now Vince Young--damn he was good.

Vince Young, Johnathon Stewart and Dennis Dixon at Oregon, Suh, Slaton/White, , Harvin at UF.

Theres a bunch of current players also have a chance to be hella exciting. Ryan Williams at VT, Dion Lewis at Pitt, Trent Richardson at Alabama, both Rodgers at Oregon St., BJ Daniels at USF.

When I was in law school at Miami Sapp and Ray Lewis were there. The on field exploits speak for themselves and they were both SO dominant. But some of the pre-game stuff was really different. During warmups and stretching Lewis would just stand at the 50 and stare at the other team. No talking, just staring.

That said, Sapp used to come out of the tunnel before stretching even and come fire up the fans, put his helmet on little kids heads and tell them to drink their milk, flex the pipes and let the kids feel them. Orange Bowl walls were like four feet high (as compared to the fortress we have around the field) so you could get right up close with the players and field. He used to do this stretching skip up and down the sidelines and howl out what he was going to do to the other team. If there was a polar opposite to jaded affected college football player, he was it.

Running backs are what come to mind right away for me, and a few I loved watching were Knowshon Moreno and Jahvid Best. Both classy players too. A current running back I love to watch is Dion Lewis at Pitt. Speaking of Pitt, LeSean McCoy was fun to watch as well.

Kinda kills me to say it, but Mallet. I love seeing pure passers throw dimes around the field. I love RR and the system he's put in, but I do miss the NFL style passers we've had the last 20 years straight. That said, I also love Ricky Stanzi ( I think he throws one of the tightest spirals in the country) Jake Locker, Andrew Luck and the QB from Texas A&M( to lazy to look his name up)

Absolutely loved watching Sean Taylor at The U. Dennis Dixon and Vince Young were fun to watch. Really like watching Jahvid Best and Noel Devine and look forward to watching Best house fools in Detroit. Calvin Johnson was the shit at GT and loved watching Crabtree as well. And for the next 4 years, Demar Dorsey.
