OT: Fanvision feedback

Submitted by loyalblue15 on

MGoBlog community:

Just wondering if anyone who has a Fanvision can give some feedback on how you like it (or don't like it) in your experiences at Michigan Stadium.

I work for one of the NFL teams who is launching them in our stadium this year and our marketing department is looking for candid feedback from fans who have used the devices.  Our official launch of Fanvision is not until this coming weekend, but our staff are very interested to see what the masses think.  Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Its nice. Its the best during half-time and timeouts when you want to see whats going on in the other games. Its also very nice to see the stats and such. I have it on the "live" but i dont' watch it when the plays are going on however i do have the earphones in to hear. I'll watch replays of sweet plays (aka denards runs) but not a replay of every play. All in all its nice to have.

I love my Fanvision. I use it mostly for stats and then review of penalties and big plays. I love that there are multiple camera angles and that you can choose to watch live TV or even other games.

Great for when going to the bathroom or waiting in line for food or beverages. I never miss a play. These things will be a huge hit. Friend from ND said they were set to get them next season. I could see these things being huge for sports like golf where you could basically select one player and watch everything they do rather than the network feed.

In short, great device.

Having different angles for replays is sweet.  Also fun to be able to follow stats, although it wished it showed all of the stats instead of just the category leaders.   It is also great for kids.  My 6 year old son loves it and finds it easier to follow the action on the field by watching the live feed.  Wish it would work at away games so I could bring it with me to Indiana this weekend.

I've only used it during the UConn game so far, but I thought it was great to have access to replays even when the scoreboard doesn't show one. I'm also excited to have video feeds from other games, though none of the games available that day were even remotely of interest. My biggest complaint is that when you watch a replay, the live audio from the game cuts off, even though there's no audio with the replay. So you have to choose whether you want to watch the replay or else hear what Beckmann and Brandstatter had to say about the play but not both.

I think its great.  I used to use my slingbox to watch replays/other games in the stadium, but with the boom of media centric smartphones, no one really gets a signal during games anymore, so that killed my viewing opportunities with slingbox on my phone.  FanVision is great, you can watch (i think) up to 4 other games including your game.  My biggest gripe is with the replays, you can only replay the previous play.  So if you saw something 3 plays ago that you wanted to take a look at, you're out of luck.  Maybe the next generation gets a bigger harddrive?

These things are awesome.  Like others have said the ability to get the feed from other games is really awesome.  I wish the stats showed more than just the leaders but maybe it will improve over time.  Getting the home radio feed is also something that I love.  I only wish that I could hear the broadcast of the halftime show even if the combination of Mark May's opinions and Lou Holtz's voice perforates my eardrums.  The replay system is not perfect but I'm sure there will be improvements.  When an official replay happens you get the replay 6 times in 7 different angles.  They really augment the viewing experience and make me feel like a better informed spectator.

Very nice. Love the device. Only problem is you can only watch the last play on replay (minus the highlights). You just have to be quick about it. So its not a big deal. Its more difficult to replay our offense because of the speed, i'd bet it wouldn't be as big of a deal in the pros because they tend to have slower tempo offenses.

I used one during the game against UConn and loved it.  Being able to watch the TV broadcast while listening to the radio broadcast while watching it live was awesome.  I'll be coming back to the stadium again in November and will definitely be bringing the FanVision with me.

I sat next to a guy with Fanvision at the UConn game.  Generally, I like the service.  The replays are good and the ability to get another game or two is a bonus.  That said, I'm not sure I'd be buying the device and signing up the for the service due to cost.  $200 is a little steep (rather, I'd just like to be able to use my iPhone).  Plus, according to their website, you can't just use it at other stadiums, you have to subscribe (I think, but don't quote me, $9 bucks a game at other stadiums). Also, I'm not sure how this device does in the rain.  If I was in the suite or covered, there would be no issue.  But, if it works like other phones and electronic devices, rain is bad. So, as much as I like it, I don't think I'll get one for quite a while.

I didn't use one, but honestly, they don't interest me that much.  When I'm in attendance, I really don't want to be distracted by other games going on.  I just want to focus on the Michigan game.

I loved using at Uconn stats were fun to track all D Robs yards! Also the replay was awesome during official reviews. Did not watch other games. With all that said and technology of phones now I would not pay for the service ours came for free this year.

I really liked being able to play instant replays for the people around me who didn't know exactly what was going on. I shut up a heckler by showing her a properly called play on replay. Being able to stream BTN or other games was nice too.

Only used it for UCONN game but my son and I loved it.  Great for stats.  Listened to Brandstater and Beckman some of the game.  Replays and different angles were nice too.  Used the rosters some for freshman, players with new numbers.  Overall loved it.  Not sure how much I would pay for one, $200 maybe a bit steep.

So you work for an NFL team?  Do you have any need for a recent UofM economics grad with some internship experience?  Or if that isn't good enough, do you have any need for an Mgoblog member? (Now that's impressive).

otherwise the entire organization would be full of Wolverines.

As it is, we really don't have any open positions at the moment.

HOWEVA, if you are interested in looking at openings, I always suggest people visit http://footballjobs.teamworkonline.com/teamwork/jobs/default.cfm, it is generally a pretty good source of open jobs with NFL teams.
