OT: Fantasy Football Start/Sit Em Thread

Submitted by GVSUGoBlue on

The final week of the Fantasy Football season is here. Here is my start sit problem of the week:
Josh Gordon was suspended and this leaves me with (bold indicates who I have starting)

Boom Herron (IND@Tenn)

or

Golden Tate (Det@GB)

I honestly trust neither of these guys even though Herron is projected for 13 and Tate is projected for 6.

HARBAUGH HARBAUGH HARBAUGH

Go Blue!

EDIT: Am I the only one still playing fantasy football this week?

I'd go Tate. The Colts don't "need" this game, but will need Boom for the playoffs as Trent is a bum. GB will likely try to roll coverage toward Calvin as they don't have a corner quality enough to shadow him. Also, the game is in GB where they avg 41 ppg compared to 20 on the road. They're likely to build a lead causing the Lions to abandon the run. Every Falcon WR of note scored a TD in GB's last home game vs a similarly talented offense. Just my two cents. I'm kind of jealous you have a game/games left. I'm jonesing.

Counter to that is that the Colts really shat the bed last week against Dallas and will use this week as a tune up. Herron should get some check down passes, which'll increase his workload and touches.

I have stafford in my league championship and I'm benching him against GB just because of how terrible he was last time around... Would trickle down to golden.

Herron because of the touches, but it's dicey.

I feel your pain--Josh Gordon put a dent in my fantasy team the last two weeks.  I agree that neither of your guys is a great option.

I'd lean toward Golden Tate.  I think the Lions may have to play from behind (i.e. throw the ball downfield more) and the Packers can double cover Calvin but will leave Tate single-covered.  Against the Packers defence, he could do pretty well and might scavenge a touchdown along the way.  Your biggest worry will be the Curse of Stafford (road game in December).

The only arguement for Herron is that the Titans are terrible, especially against the run.  Of course he's been pretty terrible, too.  He had something like 5 yards total last week.

So I'd go with Tate and hope the Lions aren't really the same old Lions.

The last 3 WR2's vs GB @ Lambeau

Roddy White - 3 catches, 42 yards & 1 TD

Brandon LaFell - 5 catches, 38 yards & 2 TDs

Jordan Matthews - 5 catches, 107 yards & 1 TD

If you'd like to make the argument that Matthews is the WR1 under Sanchise, Maclin had 9 catches for 93 yards and a TD.

Sorry, I'm living vicariously through you this week. :-/

I love the research! What makes me nervous is that Tate normally runs the short routes so he need at least 6 or more catches to actually start accumulating significant points. I'm not sure how GB is going to defend Tate and that makes me so nervous.

I have a couple leagues still going (same 2 round, 2 weeks a piece format)--

1: asiata vs the bears, FJax vs the pats, Jonathan Stewart vs the falcons.

2: flex: martavis Bryant vs cincy, Torrey smith vs cleveland, latavius Murray vs Denver

Leaning Stewart and smith but can't decide! What would harbaugh do?

competing against another Dad in the '12 year old and under FF Super Bowl today!
My only question is do I stick with playing Mark Ingram or go with Jonathan Stewart? More riding on the line for Stewart and Carolina compared to Nawlins but huge game for Atlanta who has shut down RB's the last couple weeks and they're playing at home as well.
I need some Harbaugh in Ann Arbaugh Capt Comeback magic today! Hail, Hail ...

I don't see the Pack hanging 40+ on this Lions D, no matter where the game is being played. That being said, I know GB will score more than the 7 points they managed at Ford Field week 3, and the Lions will likely need a bit more than the 19 they put up to stay in it. That week Tate caught 5 balls for 52 yards, and that was before he developed a rapport with Stafford. That GB D was also terrible against the run, they are much better now, and at home. I'd say 5 catches is and 52 yards is your floor, while your ceiling will be much much higher. Yes, TEN has struggled against the run by and large, but a lot of that has to do with the backs they've faced (Foster twice, Shady, LeVeon, Forsett, Alf, Murray, Charles, Gio, Hill.), when they've faced bad teams or inept run D, they've been just fine (Jags, Jets, etc.). The only bums to have good games were Tate and Andre, and they both got massive touches to do so. Boom doesn't get those touches, hasn't scored over 13 since Bradshaw went down, and is most affective in the pass game... Colts won't be playing catch up or in a shoot out hear. Look for them to try and built Trent some confidence entering the playoffs.

A couple strong games in a row and ATL has one of the leagues worst run D. Also Torrey, the Ravens need to fight for their playoff lives and a conservative approach isn't likely from John.

That's tough... I'd probably look at my opponent and determine if I'm the favorite or not... If you feel like you need to swing for the fences, Boldin and Bush always have the potential to throw up the random big game... If you like your chances in general, Oliver gets the garunteed touches and KC has struggled vs the run as of late.

My main piece of general advice... Go with your gut and the play you feel most comfortable with, regardless of popular opinion or projections. I find my gut wins out more often than not, not all the time, there are no locks and fluky shit happens in all of sports... But when it's all over, I find that I handle a loss or a wrong play much better when it's on my own accord. I can stomach shitting the bed if deep down I thought he was the best play going in. I can not, however, do so if I was too chicken shit to trust my instincts and my guy blows up on the bench.

Herron against the worst rush defense in the league. Stafford is horrendously mediocre, especially on the road. I would only trust Mega and Joique in that offense.
