OT - Fage yogurt

Submitted by Blue_Bull_Run on

Random thread topic, I know, but is anyone else hooked on this stuff? It tastes great (especially with a little jam or jelly in it) and it's got a ton of protein in it (most guys will appreciate that).

The only problem - it's expensive!!

Anyone else spending tons of money on this damn yogurt, or can someone recommend a similar alternative?

Chobani is good too, but not that much cheaper.  It's also a bit more bitter.  Go to Costco...they have the non-fat version in huge containers for much cheaper.  I am addicted to this shit too.   Try some agave nector or granola on top.  Its great.

Classic Greek dessert: yogurt with honey drizzled on top, and maybe a few berries. Also, can't make good tzatziki (Greek) or raita (Indian) without it.

Something new I've tried recently: So Delicious has yogurt made from coconut milk. I was skeptical, at first, but - wow - its good. Lots of different flavors, too.

But it's hard to fine (at least around me) in the 16oz containers, which are usually $3.  That being said, Walmart sells the 5.3 oz servings for $1 a piece, so there is no price trade off.   Meijer seems to carry Chobani, which is also good, for about $3.50.

If I can't find Dannon, I'll go with Yoplait, but I thnk it's inferior.

Danimals.  It's fun because there are animals on it.  That's how the get the name. Dannon + animals = Danimals.

A close second being Gogurt.  Yogurt in a tube? Can't beat that.  Unless there are animals on the box, of course.

OH HO HO

You knew this would draw me out, didn't you

Here's the deal: FAGE is the best, and if you've had it, and enjoyed it, you cannot defeat it. It has you forever now. Buy it at The Safeway or The Giant instead of The Whole Foods and it should help a little. And get the big ass swimming pool tubs of it instead of the foil-topped cartons. My mother always gets those little bastards and I always say MA YOU'RE THROWING MONEY AWAY

The best Fage is the stuff with the peach or honey mixers. Looks like it's time for the afternoon snack.

Kroger has it, too in the hippie organic section (It's kept separate from the main yogurt selection). But Trader Joe's has the best price.

Heat up a couple quarts of milk to scalding, then let cool. When it's just warm, drop a couple tablespoons of yogurt in and put it in your oven so the temperature stays constant. Next morning... you got lots and lots of yogurt. Put whatever you want in it.

If you want to be really cheap, buy a box of dried milk and use that.

How many days is it again until football?
