OT - ESPN Streak For The Cash

Submitted by lbpeley on

Anybody else dabble in this?
It's more addicting than I thought it would be when I first read about it. Harder, too. My best streak was 11 in December and I haven't come close to that since. Soccer always kicks my ass.

I love the ridiculous games they post on there that basically nobody would care about. They also have fun ones, like whether Puxatowny Phil would see his shadow, and who would last longer in the spelling bee, etc. It's a fun game.

I whipped out a 20 streak last year, and lost on a WNBA pick, of all things. Quite sad. They gave me a free shirt for it though, pretty cool.

Me and my buddies decided we'd try for most win's in a month, now. It's a nice little change of pace after losing so many streaks in that 7-10 range, and feeling nothing but anger towards teams that I would usually not give a crap about.

Funny you should mention Pux Phil. With about 3 minutes until lock time that day I was on Accuweather checking the damn radar over the town. It showed clouds from there to Oregon so I picked no shadow. Little did I know it's rigged and that he pretty much always sees his f-ing shadow whether there's sun or not. Stupid ass groundhog. That started a nice little losing streak for me.

Losing streaks are the worst. And they keep building upon themselves as you just pick anything and everything to get out of them, so you're picking games you don't know ANYTHING about. My buddy right now is on an 8 game losing streak, looking at 9 right now, with Notah Begay coming outta nowhere and sitting T1st at Pebble Beach.

I picked Weir on that one. Last I saw they were even and tied for 18th through the 3rd.
That's the problem with seeing someone at 21 wins. You try to get it all back right away. If you're on top of things you can damn near pick 4 times a day. Real easy to get that losing streak up doing it that way.

Then I realized between Facebook, various sporting blogs, MGO, Youtube, etc etc etc etc etc etc - I don't have the time. I have a 2 year old son so I gave it up. I feel better now.
