OT: ESPN Gameday Script Leaked (Satire)
11W did a fantastic job "leaking" the College Gameday script for this Saturday's show in East Lansing. I figure we could all use a good laugh around here

Y'know, people can complain all they want about ESPN hyping up SEC teams, but it rings pretty hollow when the SEC consistently wins the big matchups at the end of the year. I'm sure the SEC West is a little overrated this year, but it's hard to say much when they've proven it on the field for the better part of a decade.

Yes, they win the final game but its hard to win the game if you aren't even invited. When SEC teams lose in conference it shows the strength of the conference. When B1G or other conference teams lose in conference, it shows that there are no great teams in that conference. Its a self fulfilling prophecy.
And look at last year, Bama didn't make the NCG after losing to Auburn and then lost to Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl yet the story was that Alabama was better but were disappointed they were in a "consolation" game, so you can't really consider it a loss.
This year, Bama should probably be one of the lowest ranked one-loss teams because they haven't beaten anyone yet I'm sure they'll be in the top 5 or 6 becaus SEC RULES!!!!

It's not just the championship game. They're 17-10 in BCS games total, and they generate more NFL picks than any other conference. Aren't those reasonable objective indicators? Haven't they earned the benefit of the doubt at this point?
November 4th, 2014 at 5:31 PM ^
Um, no? The Pac-12 is 13-8 for a .620 winning pct compared to .630 for the SEC yet no one claims the Pac-12 is an elite conference top to bottom. In the last two years the SEC is 1-3 in the BCS games. Yes they have won the National Championship game and they have had elite teams but its horseshit to say that they should get any benefit of the doubt based on prior performance and the entire conference is elite (or at least that the top 6-8 teams are all elite)
The SEC is so awesome top to bottom that two middling Big 12 teams were at the top of the SEC in their first or second year in the conference.

Agree. And I know most around here won't like this notion as it's not statistical and doesn't measure data and put it into charts but the EYBALL test says the SEC lives up to the hype. It's annoying, yes, and sure they may prop themselves up a bit by "beating one another" but for the most part they look like the conference with the most amount of quality teams. The Pac-12 and Bix 12 are stepping their games up as well.

They're not being very nice to Desmond.

I wonder why?
November 4th, 2014 at 5:03 PM ^
is "Hey you guys ever heard that song What Does the Fox Say? It's pretty good but I have a hard time believing that foxes beep and ding and pow like they do in the song. That can't be what they really say. "
I don't know why but made me laugh hard

I honestly wish/hope it was only rivalry-induced mockery and not something else... b/c when you think of who's the least articulate and/or intelligent person up there, you damn sure dont think Dez. Not with Corso's incoherence being spewed every Saturday.
November 5th, 2014 at 8:01 AM ^
You do know Corso had a stroke, right? There was concern he wouldn't be able to speak anymore. Not that I don't agree with you. I just give the old guy a pass because he's old.

That was... wow, the biggest waste of time. I kept reading hoping it would actually be funny, but no. But no.

Pretty lame IMO.

Like most stuff from Ramzy, this was pretty stupid.

Think you meant to type dj byrnes

Ramzy forever earned my respect with this
November 4th, 2014 at 3:32 PM ^
It felt very forced. Not all that funny. And it rings of sour grapes.
Maybe the Big Ten should try beating the SEC from time to time?
November 4th, 2014 at 3:36 PM ^
poor execution.
But I really want to laugh today....so I will keep refreshing in hopes of funny comments.

and it had potential, but missed on a few jokes. Their making fun of Desmond was pretty good, I suppose we would have done the same in reverse to Herbie.
November 4th, 2014 at 3:40 PM ^
I haven't watched Gameday in a few years and back then I thought he needed some polish. Has he not improved?
November 4th, 2014 at 3:46 PM ^
No, not at all. That's typical Buckeye, butt-hurt.
David Pollack is worse...he's an SEC (and Georgia) homer until the end of time, and he seems to take pleasure in disproving or discrediting everyone else's opinion, however asinine his rebuttal may be.
Corso is also Corso, and worse than Des.
November 4th, 2014 at 5:18 PM ^
The guy is unwatchable. It's not just the SEC homerism. He's a straight-up MORAN.
November 4th, 2014 at 5:46 PM ^
hehe moran hehe...
November 4th, 2014 at 3:48 PM ^
He's actually at his best when he's not polished and he drops his guard and just tells it like it is.
Like calling out Michigan players in practice for nobody stepping up and wanting to be great.
November 4th, 2014 at 3:41 PM ^
Why would we find this funny when it makes fun of our beloved Desmond...
November 4th, 2014 at 3:44 PM ^
Doesn't even come close to Brian's House of Commons (non-muggles) dialogue from yesterday.
November 4th, 2014 at 4:03 PM ^
I thought it was funny. I get it; the SEC is good. The problem is it's all we hear about. Yes the SEC is the best conference, but there's some other good leagues out there. Let's talk more about them!
November 4th, 2014 at 4:32 PM ^
Me too. The Desmond stuff cracked me up, sorry.

That was a classic segment. Bravo to the writers.

and they never mentioned Dantonio once. ESS-EEE-SEE baby! God, the B1G sucks! See, if we get harbaugh, then it'll be competitive and interesting again. If we get cheapo coach, ZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz!

the cotton candy - eating a sock thing was awesome!
November 4th, 2014 at 5:07 PM ^
It has been so long since I have tuned into Gameday that I can't tell if this is funny or not.
November 4th, 2014 at 7:34 PM ^
The Desmond part is funny to most Ohio State fans because it makes them feel less insecure about all the times they chased squirrels and lost their wallets. Good one 11W!!

I was wondering what the reason was for the change in my Fall Saturday viewing habits.

Making a heisman winning, fellow alum look like an idiot is funny to you ?? This may be one of the dumbet things I ever read. Not funny at all!
