...And the hits just keep onnnn coming for Rutgers. Eric LeGrand, after being snubbed by the University, will speak at their graduation afterall. However, he won't be the only speaker. I think that this is yet another move that will bring even more embarassment to their AD, but at least they're making things right. Or trying to... OT: Eric LeGrand to speak afterall
should have not complained to the public. He should have kept this in house.
That would have been the classy move, taking the high road. I think it was unfortunate that they (the school) put him in that position in the first place.
I get what you're saying, but he would probably not be speaking at graduation if he had remained silent.
Rutgers shouldn't be doing crappy things to people where they hand out agreements then pull them away. Legrand would not have been in this position if Rutgers acted normally.
but now he looks like a complainer and RU looks awful.
Maybe RU is awful? At least in the PR department.
LeGrand shouldn't have been put in a position to need to make a decision about keeping it in house or not, Mr. Company Man.
Could someone with a spare moment, explain to me like I'm 5, exactly what is going on with Rutgers I know I shouldn't be a lazy asshole, but I am in fact a lazy asshole.
Thank you kindly.
front page article from yesterday, although hilarious, was also a good update on several PR mis-steps by the Rutgers moronic Athletic Director, Julie Hermann. The story has quick links embedded to about 3-4 different times her quotes or things she's done has embarassed the university. Essentially, her foot has a permanent place inside her mouth.
Thanks, I'll check it out. I don't always read everything on the Front Page. I know, I know I'll neg myself on my way out.
Nicely done. But it will be time well spent, I promise. Very funny read.
Sure. Rutgers mommy's and daddy's are a bunch of poopy-heads making mistake after mistake soooooo big they are bigger than the clouds and elephants and the whole wide world put together times ten times a hundred jillion-million-bazillion-katrillion.
The B1G needs to make Rutgers sit on the steps for a while and think about it.
Haha I wish I was at my computer to +1 this
I kinda figured it would end this way; I mean once he shared the story we all knew the school would have to get their heads out their asses and have him speak.
Someone mentioned it above, but it is nice to see Rutgers honor an agreement that it made to LeGrand. I know that some folks have issues with him making this public, and I do see that argument, but I do believe the larger point is that the school made an offer and the school should have the integrity to make good on that offer.
It is also disenheartening to see a school make their own commencement a needlessly complicated drama, and from the comments section on NJ.com and other sites, a fair number of Rutgers alums are just as mystified and embarrassed about how this played out as anyone.
It's a classic failure of leadership. Rutgers is a large, well-regarded university and there are very few people involved in this series of embarassing actions and decisions.
I've lived in the NY area my entire life and have a theory regarding Rutgers and recent events. Because this is such a pro-sports dominated area, and Rutgers was never much of a force in the Big East, they've been able to fly under the radar for the most part. Joining the BIG is going to put more of a spotlight on them as they're pressured to do better in the PR department. So far it isn't going too well and they better get it together soon.
All along I've felt UCONN wasa better option, though that would be looking more toward the future as UCONN gains in both academic and (hopefully) football stature. I think a move to the BIG could have been a big boost to their football program - not as sure about Rutgers.
I will not be attending
What ever happened to the days when scandals were about rapes, pedophilia and academic scandals?
The good ol days?
