OT - Epic beatdown of the Blue Jackets by the Wings tonight

Submitted by teldar on

And this was after one of my wife's coworkers who likes to give her grief about my being a Wings fan said she was going to rub it in her face tomorrow.
I can't say it was a game of beauty, but it was an efficient game by the Wings against a terrible looking Columbus team tonight. All it all, good stuff.

were terrible in the first period, Wings just took advantage of every mistake (2 goals on cbus' first two turnovers) and strangled the game before it ever got started.

After the first it was like an exhibition game.

but all the people I know who are BJ fans are also OSU fans. And they want to give me crap about being both an M fan and a Wings fan. So it's always extra nice when the Wings win. Even if it's mostly because Columbus is busy stinking up the ice.

Going into the game the Red Wings had 6 guys on the roster with two goals. Every single one of them scored tonight. Abdelkader came into the game with 1 goal and scored twice. Thus, every Wing who scored tonight scored their third goal of the season in this game. That has to be some kind of record.

Was there tonight, great beat down of an Ohio team by a Michigan team. The local nuts were silenced very early in the first period. Trust me, these folks will take this loss very badly.

If(when) the wings hold on and make the playoffs as like the 3-5th seed and get everyone back and on track...look out NHL. Their numbers don't show it but they've played VERY well this year. They've just been bitten by the injury bug and the unlucky-bounce-in-the-defensive-zone bug.

Anytime you score 9 goals in a non-preseaon NHL game, it's beautiful and you're playing well. Even playing poorly, an NHL team shouldn't be giving up 9 goals. That's a special kind of amazing. Go Wings!

Mason stayed on to give up 8 goals. I wonder if that has happened another time this decade. It's really rare to see a guy give up more than four or five in a game now. I can't believe that Hitchcock didn't pull him back out after the third period when it was 6-1.

When was the last time that the Wings won a game by 8 goals? I don't remember it happening at least since the '90s. I wish we could bottle up some of those goals for the coming weeks, because the Wings are really going to need them until they get Franzen back.
