OT: English Premier Returns

Submitted by uncle leo on

I know it doesn't have the same impact as the return of football (American), but there is something so warming and comfortable to be able to turn on the TV on weekends with a cup of joe and watch Prem league.

Curious to see how Man U does with some new management at the helm and if LC can keep up nearly the level they had last season.

So pumped for the new season. Arsene better sign Mustafi and a striker/Mahrez. The league dynamic and competitive level will be kicked up a notch this year with Pep, Klopp, Mourinho and Conte. Go you Gunners!

Should be a great year at the top. Especially with Man Utd making moves in the window, have to consider them a top 4. Hopefully LCFC can keep the momentum going, but I think a hangover is in order. We shall see, gonna be a long season.

What a difference a year makes.  The Foxes learn what it means to become the prey.

First defending champion in the Premier league era to lose on opening day.  To a team that had 0 viable substitutes, a caretaker manager, one big fat question mark in regarding team ownership.

Hull is the odds on favorite to drop this year, and they go into Leicester and knock out the reigning champs.  Awesome.

Hull supporters should start a Kickstarter campaign to get some quality substitutes.  Lol.

I forgot about this with the Olympics going on.  Already some intriguing things happening with Hull beating the former champs; apparently it's been four years since a promoted team won its first game.

Still plenty of time left, I'm expecting at least a defender, but Pochettino's also wants guys to have gone through a full offseason as he wants them full up in his system, so who knows they may just roll the dice and see if the kids are up to it, the way they have in the past. It's worked so far

Good start to the season. I wouldn't say that it's less exciting than the start of football. I easily watch more Premier League games than NCAA or NFL football. It's a much more stragegic and enjoyable sports to watch these days, imo.

it's interesting to see the different stadiums.  Watching Everton vs Spurs on the TV, in what I would consider a "normal" multi-deck stadium, and streaming the Burnley game that's in this little dinky stadium with a single deck on the sides.  The stadium capacities differ so much.

Is there a way to watch on Xbox One? Don't see any games listed on the NBC Sports app (the website has live games, the app just shows commentary/replays and highlights).

Update: No luck.

"We're sorry for the inconvenience and understand that this is frustrating. The Premier League is not supported by Xbox One, Windows 10, or Samsung Smart TVs as this is out of our control. You can continue to watch on www.nbcsports.com, Android/iOS devices, and on other connected devices.

Again we apologize.

looking forward to Sunday morning's early game when my Reds kick off a championship campaign @ Bournemouth. Ibra to lead the line with 2 goals on the day and Rooney to spot one from the penalty circle. Bournemouth score late to negate the shutout and the crowd cheers early for Paul Pogba even though he has to sit on a yellow card carry over from last year at Juventus. Cannot wait!

as they buy a lot of their talent these days, though home grown talent in top flight soccer is by and large nonexistant now.

I'm from good old Grand Rapids MI, so I guess that puts me right in the middle of 'Out of Towner' but I've been a Man U fan for nearly 20 years. When I was starting to learn about them (and European soccer in general) United's best players were all home grown: David Beckham, the Neville brothers, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs.

United was the first club I knew about and I loved the jerseys, Paul Scholes, Roy Keane, Jaap Stam, David Beckham and Ruud VanNistelrooy. Loved Sir Alex and the whole United aura.

I get why people don't like them. I also get that I don't give a shit :)

It's crazy how short the soccer offseason is.  A lot of guys were playing in the Euro in June/early July, and now they're back for another 10-month season.

Hart on the bench for Shit-eh.  What a crappy summer for him.  Choke away a chance to advance out of the group stage at the Euros, and it looks like the rumors of him not fitting in with what Guardiola wants in keepers are true.

I enjoy watching soccer, but have only focused on the USMNT. I've decided to try the EPL league, but not sure how to pick a team to follow. Unlike American sports where you either live in the state of that team, attended the university, or some other connection, the EPL is different. How did many of you decide which team to follow? I'm thinking of picking a team that has anUSMNT member who contributes a lot. Any advice on who I should follow is welcomed.
