OT - Elementary School Needs Help!

Submitted by CooperLily21 on

Its been so long since I've posted that I almost forget how this is done but here goes anyway:

All you gamers, parents, philanthropists, and computer-savy MGoUsers out there might have an interest in this - We are raising funds to replace some computers in a local elementary school in order to create a Minecraft Club for the students there.  I set up a crowdsourcing fundraiser campaign on Indiegogo in hopes of generating $7500 for the cause.  Below is the link to the campaign:

If any of you have any interest in donating, know that it will be greatly appreciated!  If not, any time you have to forward the link to friends, family, fellow Michigan fans, and others will also be greatly appreciated.  I would be amazing if we can raise enough funds to reach our goal.

Thanks in advance for helping the cause!

Thats a great game too!  I've just never played so I can't really lead a KSP club myself, which is what I'm doing for this Minecraft club.  If a parent at the school wanted to do KSP instead I'd support the heck out of it.  Anything that gets the kids to focus on something enriching and not standardized test related even if just for an hour every other week is good IMO.

Minecraft is actually endorsed by educators for use in schools because of the 'virtual reality' and spatial relations concept of the game.  My son attends a very highly ranked public school in CO and the Minecraft Club has been very popular among the kids for years now.

Nolan Bushnell - founder of Atari and 'godfather of video games' is now working in academia and spoke at length on Minecraft at a conference I spoke at as well last year.

I for one don't get Minecraft at all but I know a lot of adults who like it too.

My son and I bond by doing Fantasy Football together and ....playing outside!!  lol
