OT: El Clasico Leg 2 Thread
I am watching it on ESPN 3. What round of the tournament is this?
I believe it is quarterfinals.
Thank you for reminding me. I'm going login to espn3 now.
especially Guardiola. I take pleasure in seeing them lose anytime.
in the words of the anti-Guardiola... "por que?"
Or, even more accurately as his most-likely-preferred native tongue: "per què?"
Holy crap that goal would have been an insane start if he made it
Too bad I don't get ESPN Deportes or "Gol TV," but I'm assuming it's on ESPN3?
Yea it's on ESPN3. I think they even have a Spanish feed for those amazing goal screams.
its on espn8 the ocho
Lots of early chances for the royal whites
They had to make their name Real Madrid after all of those fart-loving Fake Madridians tried to steal their spot to compete for the European Cup.
I really want Barcelona to lose. I'm tired of the game they play holding the ball 70% of the time and winning everything. Even though i dont like Mourino, i like even less Barcelona. So far Real is playing a lot better but that's how it always is between this two.
What is wrong with holding the ball. Watching some of those linking passes from Xavi, Iniesta and Messi is a thing of beauty.
I think it just puts some people to sleep or they get bored because it isn't the style of futbol they like.
Similar to watching great defensive battles in football. Some people don't care for it while others do.
I think Barca plays a very aesthetic type of soccer with their amazing one touch passing. It also helps having someone like Messi who makes it looks like the ball is stuck on his foot.
what Barcelona does is not easy, boring, or simple by any means. Keeping the ball 70% of the time using 1 touch and 2 touch passing, off the ball movement, a high back line, and quick short passes is the most difficult, yet the most beautiful way the game is won.
Last week Barcelona's keeper completed more passes than ANYONE on the opposing team.
Just because you dont understand the strategy doesnt mean it's boring. it just means you should go back to playing Fifa.
I wasn't saying I didn't understand it's difficulty or anything like that. I enjoy watching them play. I was maybe trying to play devil's advocate as why other people don't like it.
Wow what a crack from Ozil.
Could be 2-0
Could be 2-0
What happened to Iniesta? I saw nothing out of the ordinary on the replay.
Barca fans remind me of Apple fanboys.
Where were y'all in the 90s when Rivaldo et al couldn't get a sniff of the UCL trophy?
FWIW Barca plays a beautiful possession game...and are the most blatant floppers around. Love it that Pepe has been thugging it up in the middle for Real recently against Barca.
I'm not really a Barca fan, but I do like to watch them play.
I just started watching soccer about 4 years ago so I have no idea what the 90s were like.
Pepe is a pretty dirty player.
How did Diarra not pick up his second yellow on that play?
Filthy goal by Dani Alves.
Also this game is going to get ugly.
What a strike from Alves.
I'm hoping to see some of the craziness that we have been acustomed to seeing from Mourinho in the second half.
I really don't know what else he can change. They came out guns blazing on offense because they were a goal down and determined to take it to Barcelona right away. Granted it took a while, but Barcelona was able to take advantage of that on the counter attack that was the 1st goal.
If he presses more that would just open up more holes defensively.
I am expecting a lineup shakeup, and would not be surprised if Diarra is replaced because him getting a second yellow would be bad (and this game seems to be approaching a level where lots of yellows could be handed out).
I believe that the only way to describe Madrid's first half performance would be to say that they "choked on applesauce."
Well how wrong was I?
This game just got interesting. Putting Ronaldo at striker seems to have been the key.
This doesn't surprise me. Real brought their guys further up to attack more, and instead of responding by attacking, Barca just seemed to be more comfortable just choking the life out of the game.
Puyol is looking sketchy in the middle all of the sudden.
Pepe got away with that. shoulda been a PK
Pepe just comes off as a thug
Pepe is just like Nigel de Jong.
Fabio Coentrao is very quickly finding that he belongs at Madrid: kick, slash, and get cheap shots on the Barca midfeilders.
after Diara and Pepe's plays, that was a silly reason to send someone off.
That was a bad call by the ref.
That was a bad call by the ref.
Ramos has to be smarter than that at this stage
O le le, O la la. Ser del Barca es, el millor que hi ha!
Yellow Cards: 7-1
And we complain when the officials hate on Michigan!
What was the reason for taking away the Sergio Ramos goal early in the second half? I was watching in spanish and my translating skills are not what they used to be.
The Ramos goal was nullified because there was a foul before the ball arrived.
And honestly (you may see me as being biased, but I am a soccer coach so I do have the ability to look at officiating objectively) the game was well officiated.
Madrid simply commits more fouls than Barca... they have to in order to stop Barca's style of play. Diara easily shouldve been sent off before half, Pepe's late challenge on Alves shoulv'de been a straight red, as he was the last defender.
