OT: Edit: Nice weather/Oberon/Why the hell are you on here? open thread
..but my uncle just brought over a six pack of Oberon for my dad's Master's party
It's also a glorious day despite the tigers losing to the Royals and I'm attempting to make the most out of a day where I've got nothing more to do than work on stuff for finals and watch golf. Thank you Bell's for brightening up my day and motivating me to get sent to Bolivia.
Sounds like a lame party if you only need 6 beers.
hat's off to you sir
The guy's watching the Masters with his dad and uncle. Are you really expecting multiple kegs and jello shots?
lucky the rules of +1-ing and negging don't apply right now...
I'd take an Oberon mini keg
.....I have the laptop on the porch, MGoBlog open, with a pint of Hacker-Pschorr in the glass.
When I was there the first day of, well, this, studying became impossible because the first warm day was the day all the girls decided to work on their tans. You'd still around the field, but you're eyes were never on the book for long....
Of course, when I was in school, it was almost always the week of finals, so you have that going for you.
Who is to say you weren't studying? It just had little to do with the subject listed on the cover the book, unless it was anatomy.
Charleys!
The title of this thread should be, "Why the hell are you on MGoBlog right now".
I'll start.........
I was looking for a new chicken marinade, and decided to stop in for a moment.
obliged.
I'm here because I'm in the PacNW. The weather is crappy here. The Tigers lost. The Mariners are getting drubbed (surprise!). I suppose I'll leave here and go give the Masters my full attention now. At least I have no rooting interest in it, so I can't lose!
Me too. Waiting for the weather to turn.
I'm so sorry your Mariners had to lose to Cleveland 12-3 like that. It wasn't anything personal.
Anyone else find the Bells batch this year to be a bit lacking? I have been disappointed the few I have had both on draft and in bottle.
The general consensus seems to be that the quality of Oberon has been going down over the past few years as its popularity has forced increased production.
perfect running weather today. I went for a nice 8 miler down eisenhower to Ann Arbor-Saline Rd.
Thats always a great run when the weather turns for the first time of the spring. Although the route you suggest seems like there is a lot of traffic. I prefer to go north to the paths around the river (argo pond).
I live off of stone school, so it is easier for me to pick up eisenhower run on it past briarwood and then pick up Ann Arbor-Saline rd south towards meijers. Sometimes I like to run up stone school to Packard towards campus. I hit 3.5 miles exactly in front of Angell Hall.
I'm posting from the steps of the Grad in the Diag, so I'm enjoying the weather, the blog, and Panda Express.
I've had a can of Diet Coke today. I got shitfaced last night and I'm gonna give my liver the day off. That poor fucker is way overworked.
i act like an idiot like that or do even worse shit, the only way i get out of the dog house is with a trip to helzberg diamonds... so really you're getting off easy...
I did something similar in undergrad - had way too many $1 pitchers at Rick's during happy hour, crawled into her bathroom, puked, passed out halfway into the hallway. Missed our date, but woke up with a blanket and big cup of water next to me. Despite my colossal stupidity, she married me anyways.
I recommend you visibly enjoy the charity function.

Oberon is overrated.
You're overrated!
Oberon is overrated if you don't like wheat beer.
.....but the best wheat beers I have had are Leffe and Hoegaarden.
I like wheat beers, they aren't my favorite (I prefer stouts, porters, and brown ales), but I just hate how jacked people get over the release of oberon. There are much better wheat beers out there. Goose Island 312, and Southern Tier Hop Sun to name a couple.
IMO, 312 tastes more like a mass-produced domestic beer than a craft beer.
Oberon is very much starting to taste like a mass producded beer. Its name has gotten too big, and more and more of it is in demand. It's no longer a craft beer, it's one that is just living off its past reputation rather than taste.
312 still tasted pretty good to me last time I had it. Sad to hear that goose island got bought out by anheuser busch. Probably downhill for goose island now.
Oberon's definitely been on the decline, but at least for me, that just takes it down to being "one of many beers I like" from "the only beer I drink over the summer". I got a 6 pack of 312 when I got my first 6 pack of Oberon to compare, and I still greatly preferred the Oberon.
Hoegaarden. Thanks for that, I always see that (and took a picture because of the luls had by the name since my humor occasionally slips into middle school mode again), and debate whether or not to buy it. Next time I'll give it a try.
My favorite beer so far was probably Circus Boy by Magic Hat, but I'm not sure I'll ever be able to find it again.
Anyone seen the movie 'Limitless'? Is it any good? I was thinking about going to see it today...
Limitless is a great movie. Definitely worth a watch.
Fat Tire outside
the closest oberon to me is like 45 mins away in pennsylvania. i'll be making a roadtrip this coming weekend i think
