OT: #Eating project update

Submitted by MrSmith on

Hello Mgoblog a lot of people had asked about how the garden was doing and here is a video a community memeber made of one of our work days when we had a community day.  We are working on a full update and thank you all for your support and contributions and we will continue to build more gardens even up here in Michigan.

Still got my I (football) Pahokee wrist band on from the inception of the project. Keeps me humble every day. God bless you and Mr. Odoms, Mr. Smith. The next time I hear "Michigan Man" without your names attached to the phrase I'm gonna get irritated.

spoke louder than his words (on and off the field).

Thanks for the update.  I am looking forward to supporting the next phase of your plans to improve your community.

I love these videos.  I've been following the status of the garden since the beginning and it's amazing to see the progress.

Some questions:  Has the garden expanded? (it looks bigger in the later videos).  The early videos emphasize the growing of food, but this one looks expanded to various botanical plants.  Are there different things that are grown at different times?

Any plans for expansion or other plots throughout Pahokee?

The garden is bigger yes. We planted trees and berry bushes and herbs. the banana trees is what look huge. We are moving forward to growing food and that is the next expansion. Herbs in Miami restaurants can sell great and at a big price. We want to have food and a way for people to get employed as well. All the plants are chosen to grow well together and our garden developer is a Michigan grad doing a great job at making everything work. We want to expand and we have the kids on probation working in the garden so we will have to soon. Also we are working to get gardens in Michigan as well.
