OT - EA Sports Madden Vote

Submitted by clarkiefromcanada on

It seems that this year there is a bracket for the cover of madden pitting former dog murderer Michael Vick (Eagles) against quality human being Peyton Hillis (Browns). Hillis, a 10 seed has had quite the impressive run.

Nice to see St. Tim Tebow eliminated in first round.

Guilty as charged my friend.

And he served his jail time and continues to work to make amends.

(For the record, I'm not a Vick fan, necessarily. I think he's fun to watch, but I'm fairly indifferent to him. I just am not of the mind that the man will forever be evil-incarnate.)

What he did was horrible, but he served his time and is trying to make amends. People need to lay off Vick.

What that said, I voted for Hillis because the dude is a BAMF.

It's time to put the Vick hate to rest.  I find it impressive to see how he has rehabilitated his career and his public image since paying his debt to society.

I think it is time for you to stop trying to reject others' opinions.  It's not so much that he fought and killed dogs.  In some ways, I can forgive that.  But you have to be a damned psychopath to get joy out of physically DROWNING another living thing, fighting off its last ditch attempt to survive.  But the money is great for dogfighting, right?  Oh yeah, I forgot.  He did all that shit for pleasure.  Give me a fucking break you apologists.  Whether it surfaces soon or not, the guys a fucking nutjob.  Where is Stallworth with a bottle of Jack when you need him?  I would have no remorse for Vick.

If I was Vick, I wouldn't want to be on the cover again. Didn't the Madden cover curse strike him hard last time he was on the cover? If I'm not mistaken, that's the year he broke his leg right at the start of the season.

EDIT: Yeah, just checked, he was on the cover in '04, and broke his leg at the start of the season, missing the first 12 games. Of course that was the year I drafted him onto my fantasy team...

I don't know that he'll ever have that kind of a season again, but I wouldn't say he's overrated. He was pretty fantastic last season. Plus, he was a top notch fantasy work horse (who was unfortunately not on my team).

Long made the bracket? That's awesome! Sucks he lost in the first round to Sanchez, but not terribly surprising an OL lost to a QB. Still, pretty impressive the guy made the bracket in the first place.

is Tom Brady not in this bracket? The guy was unstoppable last season, you'd think the first unanimous NFL MVP would be in the running.

Of course, then again Madden sucks balls, so... whatever, I voted for Vick.

While I do not believe he is "evil-incarnated" he also did not do the time in my mind. Pitting dog fights that result in the ruthless death of animals cannot just be forgotten. I'm sorry but not only the dog fighting but sickening abuse involved outside the ring is terrible. Did we all forget the equipment used on dogs found at his place intended to abuse and increase violence? Rape stands... that equipment means nothing...

Vick simply speaking about how he did wrong when he has no choice but to pander means nothing to me after incarceration. Sure he could have learned his wrongs but in a realist view… It’s very doubtful.

because of the media. It's not his damn fault they pimp him. So you don't like his views on religion or something? Big deal, I repsect him for standing up for his beliefs. I hope he makes it big in the NFL, even as much as I enjoyed our boys faceplanting him in 2007. (New Years 2008 actually, but same diff.)

The guy led the team in receptions as well as everything he did on the ground (even though that also shows how pathetic our receivers are).  I've come to the conclusion that the Browns fans are flooding the votes, or every other fan base is also voting for Hillis because of the curse.  We of course don't care about the curse because, hey, at least we will have won something this year.

Does anybody else feel like Vick would be less hated if he had killed a fucking human being?  He paid the price for his crimes, and I can't sit on my ivory throne and pretend to know what kind of environment he grew up in. If anything, the endgame has been a plus for those who love animals given the increased awareness combined with the amends and efforts Vick has made since he got out of jail.
