OT: Duke/Ohio Thread
Should probably go Duke, Indiana, UM. Duke's resume is better than IU's. IU's is maybe better than UM's.
IU beat the crap outta UNC who got plastered by unranked Butler.
UM murder fisted KSU, Pitt, and NC St, so maybe there's an argument for Duke, UM, IU.
Of course bball polls don't mean shit compared to fball polls so in the long run none of it really matters that much.
Sorry for the format. Posting from Galaxy III on the app.
We murder fisted Pitt and NC State? We won both games, but only by 5 and 7 points respectively, Duke probably should be #1 and IU a very close #2 with us at #3.
Blank.....Blank......You're not looking at the big picture here.
IU blew out UNC, a pretty good squad by 20+. They had some close games when Zeller was sick, but won them all. Duke was fortunate that Ohio shot about 35% for the game, and Croft played his worst game of the year. I understand the argument that IU has more wins against good teams, but that is an accident of the scheduling, and does anyone who has seen both teams play really think that Duke should be ranked ahead of IU? I firmly do not.

Duke beat:
#3 Kentucky (Neutral)
#2 Louisville (Neutral)
#4 OSU (Home)
Unranked then, now ranked Minnesota
VCU
That's your number 1 team right there folks.
I had this thought yesterday while watching this game. I remember McGary having a duke offer yesterday and then was curious about duke's big men that have had similar recruiting profiles to him and how long they have been at duke.
Ryan Kelly was # 20 overall in his class. He is a senior now with his role/minutes increasing steadily after not playing much as a freshman, but he plays the 4 so the style of play comparision may not fit as well.
Mason Plumlee was #55 overall in his class. He is also a senior now with his role/minutes increasing every year, though not as greatly as kelly.
14.1mpg, 46%fg, 3.1rb, 3.7pts
McGary was #30 overall in his class. His minutes so far more closely mirror Plumlee's and he also plays the 5 as plumlee did so I think he is the better comparison.
14.3mpg, 60.9%fg, 5.7rb, 5.5pts
Overall, I just thought it was interesting but the takeaways are that people need to give McGary time...he is only 6 games into his ncaa career and has shown promise. His stats so far compare favorably to a likely 1st round draft pick at the same timepoint in his career. I am very excited by what he has done so far and think he has barely scratched his surface.

Thomas should have been taking all the shots down the stretch. Ohio played a very good game, especially on defense, but left the Lumberjack open too many times in the second half.
