OT - douchey MgoBlog users

Submitted by white_pony_rocks on
Let me start off by saying I know what I am getting myself into here, but it has to be said, even if it is to only get my frustrations off my chest. I am sick of the douche bags on this site. And I think it is safe to assume they are michigan students. I love this university, My aunt and uncle have season tickets and I have been going since I was 12. I always wanted to go to school here, but it's expensive and my grades weren't good enough in high school. But after living here and going to eastern, I have come to realize that the students that go here are over-privileged, whiny rich kids who don't know jack shit about the real world. It has been showing up more and more on this site, and for the longest time I tolerated people whining about posts not having the right title so they had to take 5 seconds to click on it and realize they didn't want to read it. Were so sorry we inconvenienced you, since you go to U of M you must be right and have everything your way. In fact, I'm sure that some people are going to bitch about me having to long of a post in the forum and I should have put this under diaries. Well guess what, piss off. I just witnessed a forum where people were complaining about the spelling. This blew my mind. Get a life people. Don't you realize people think you're douche bags? Well, it's because you are. Wow, so you go to Michigan, so you can spell, good for you. You think your shit don't stink. But if you were "all that" you would be going to Harvard, Wharton, or MIT., there are plenty of people smarter out there than you. So shut the hell up and post about sports or responses to OT topics, not how well you can spell, that's what first grade spelling bee's are for, or to complain about a topics title, nobody has dial-up anymore, I can click on every link on this site in under 5 min, deal with it p.s. Also, for all you michigan students who think getting hit by a car won't hurt, the world does not revolve around you. I will stop for you if you are using a designated cross walk. but if you are crossing state street and are coming out from behind a car at a random spot, either be prepared to be hit or yelled at, and if you yell back, be prepared to have something thrown at you. p.s.s. Do you think that talking about how jake long got drafted first overall will help RR get S. Henderson when he talks to him? I have always wondered if that was considered tacky to do?

in USC's commons has a similar sign. I can't remember if it is Carl's Jr. or The Rice Bowl. Also the Grove cafe at UCSD has a signs that says almost the exact same thing. Several coffee carts at U of Washington say, "No shoes, No Shirt, Cell Phone attached to your head, NO SERVICE." Those three campuses are full of arrogant dicks too though.

I don't really know what office you work in, and I'm a Michigan fan who didn't attend U-M, but a few things: 1. I taught at another, less academically prestigious Big 10 school as a grad student, and I saw plenty of the same 'arrogance' and rude behavior you mention. I mean, I saw kids so naive? lazy? that they would walk into the main office in a six-story building and ask 'What room is the Italian class in?' 2. I attended as an undergrad a chichi private school on the East Coast, and my experience there (as well as with other private school students; it's a small world) tells me that at any school in the world, there will be people there who make you wonder how they got into college, or where they got the idea that college was even for them. Some of them have Daddy's money to help them go places in life, I guess. This is not uniquely Michigan, or even close to it. 3. "peanut of a salary" and "useless degree": Look, I don't know what field you work in, I really don't. But even for the best and brightest, times are really tough. A lot of graduates I know - from good programs, mind you - are struggling just to find a job that pays $30,000. I have applied for countless positions probably just like yours, and have heard nothing in response. Just consider yourself lucky to have a comfortable position, and don't mock others for not making enough. (I mean, if they're really whiny, mock away; it's how we all survive the day.)

There are people who add to discussions that don't spell well (gsimmons, for example). I could be wrong, but it seems that the people who get the most shit for their spelling are the ones who are poor spellers AND poor thinkers. Spelling and grammar are important. We are given a "free" education in this country through the 12th grade. For thirteen years, each of us is ranted and raved at by elementary school teachers and English teachers. Then people get on the internet, communicate poorly, and then get pissed off that others think they're stupid. People should write properly OR add some substance. If they can't do either, they shouldn't be using language on the internet.

Were you spelling in English or Spanish? Or maybe Portuguese? This makes a huge difference. If you beat a bunch of native Spanish speaking in an English spelling bee, not too impressive. If you beat anyone in a spelling bee that was in their native tongue and not yours, I cannot complete with that.

agreeing like this. People will talk. But what I have found is that there are very few who compartmentalize their intellect. The quality of the writing (spelling, grammar and formatting) is usually mirrored by the quality of their content. This thread is a prime example. There are few exceptions, and you note GSimmons as one.

at Scorekeepers over dangling participles and the proper use of adjectives and quotation marks. I saw one freakishly huge guy slamming some poor skinny English major's head onto the floor repeatedly while screaming "eat my fucking gerund now, bitch!" Took five bouncers and a couple of cops to get him off.

It's pretty hard to pick just one, but what the hell: the part where he chastises Michigan students for not having the brains to get into MIT and then we find out Michigan sent him a thin DING! envelope. It's like something you would find on a sitcom.

Link me to a post where I say anything about spelling or grammar. And really, I can't think of a more irrelevant response than what you just gave me here. All I'm saying is that it's hilarious that you would give someone shit for not getting into a better school when they are attending a school that you tried and failed to get into. And now you are throwing stones from a vastly inferior school down the street. The rage at people crossing the streets you wish you could walk (likely in full Michigan gear) is really just icing on the cake.

I hope this was directed towards me. I am MichiganStudent. And yes I do think I am better than you. Actually, I know I am better than you. I know there are people much smarter than me that go to more prestigious schools, but you go to Eastern. So, multiply the number of people that are smarter than me by 20 and thats how many people are smarter than you. Good job! Oh, and go fuck yourself. If you would like to fight I'd accept your challenge. Set a time and date and I promise you I will be there to kick your ass for the entire "MGOBLOG" community. Shall we?

Magnus chill out. I just think this guy is a complete douche bag. I could really care less what he has to say. I actually could care less what you have to say as well regarding my behavior, but I like your posts on other topics. Anyways, I was hoping for a "Ya lets get him" type of reaction. Guess not...

Yeah Magnus, chill out. I don't even like your posts. The only reason I even still talk to you is because you beat a bunch of Brazilian kids in a spelling contest and I think that's admirable. So chill out, and let this guy e-fight whoever he wants. I'm totally kidding. "If I ever met you in real life I'd beat your face in" is about as cool as herpes.
