You never know who will be good with the Bears because of their cover 2. He's obviously failed in man to man systems. If he has good ball skills & can tackle he has a shot. He won't need elite speed. If Tim Jennings can start, then DW should be able to crack the roster.

Our defensive backfield is not so good. There should be room to advance for him, unless Lovie goes back to his old ways of roster managment.

Can't believe he couldn't crack the Lions lineup. I thought they should take a 7th round shot at him in the draft. Of course, I got negbanged to hell for broaching that idea here, but, whatever.

I like Donovan Warren. Always have. I am also not a scout. :)

Players signed this time of year rarely make it to training camp with the team that signed them.  His chance of an NFL career is pretty much over and that is very sad.  Staying at Michigan would have gotten him drafted, but I doubt it would have changed his ability to compete in the NFL...I think we may have overrated Donovan a bit just because of how porous the rest of the secondary was in comparison....

I don't know that another year at Michigan eliminates his shortcomings, which are pretty much all physical (I know he was banged up but he ran some ridiculously slow 40 times).  His high recruiting ranking probably covered the fact that he just wasn't quick enough to play at the next level.  His play at Michigan was more than adequate and he gained plenty of all-conference attention, I just don't think he has the speed to cover NFL guys the way he did Big Ten receivers.

If anything is irritating about the situation it is that the NFL gave him a 3rd round grade after watching his film and that is what caused him to give up his final year of eligibility.

I agree. As much as I liked him as a player and obviously respect him, being a Michigan fan, I thought he was overrated by many. I was and still am a big Leon Hall fan and I remember where people would rate Warren in comparison to him and the all-time Michigan greats go and never understood it, besides him being a blue chipper coming out of high school and not having landed Ronald Johnson. I wish he had stayed one more year. I knew that he didn't have the pure athleticism that some guys had, but outside of a few plays, he also didn't have the ball-hawking skills that you associate with the elite at CB. Either way, I wish him luck and hope he ends up in the best situation to succeed.

It's such a tough uphill climb to get back on a roster having been undrafted and really never on a roster other than practice squads.  You aren't playing so you can't improve, what skills you do have are eroded by the inactivity, and you have to overcome a negative perception.  There are exceptions but they are very rare.

corner or safety?  there are enough crappy of both in the NFL that Donovan should be able to find a spot..... the NFL is filled with mediocre DBs this year

BTW that sounds like im dissing Donovan, Im not...Im just saying that it is a good time to hit the NFL looking for work as a DB cause talent is down this year in the NFL
