OT - Does Anyone in MGoBlogland have FIOS?

Submitted by MGoEOD on
Verizon is currently ransacking my neighborhood laying cable for FIOS. Does anyone have it? How does it stack up to HD Cable?

Personally I have every bit of info I got with Verizon. My land line, 2 cells, TV, and internet all with them. Years and years of being made into Comcasts Nancy boy I have sworn to never give them another dime. I am very satified with the service they have given me, I haven't watched a bunch of HD content stuff and my current TV is only 720p which isn't the full "swing" but it still seems really cool for those channels.

out in Rhode Island. It was a much better deal than the HD cable offered here by Cox, and I'm really happy with it so far. I get their Extreme HD package (114 HD channels including NFL network and FSC, no movie channels) + their basic internet service (5 mbps, iirc) and an HD DVR for about $110/month. The only negatives I've noticed in three weeks is that a) the on-screen guide and DVR interfaces are somewhat cluttered and cumbersome and b) they didn't have Superbad on demand when I came home from the bar and really wanted to watch it. Seems pretty sweet overall though.

If it's price competitive vs. your cable provider, switch. Verizon has some pretty good deals online, I think we get cable + internet for around $100/month. HD BTN is included.

We've had FIOS for a couple years and love it. the 20up-5down internet connection isn't bad either. I would highly recommend it over cable or Dish. Direct TV would be my only other option if I wanted the NFL package.

Its so fast, and it doesn't disconnect as much as comcast does. On the other hand, I have had it for 6 months and am too stupid to learn the new channels.
