OT - Digger Phelps to Retire from ESPN
Digger Phelps announces that this will be his last game for ESPN. He has never been a fan of the Maize and Blue. When can Dickie V join him?
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Whomever
Jason WIlliams: "(cough) Stauskas (cough)"
The old recollection ain't what it used to be, Digger.
Eh, I forgot my cousin's kid's name yesterday. It happens to the best of us.
Meaning it happens to the not-so-best of us - like ESPN talking heads.
What's he gonna do with all those highlighters?
Lou Holtz with him?
then who will predict ND winning the national title each year?
Would love to see them clean quite a few out.
That being said I was a little surprised by Billas on SVP show today.
Scott or Ryan brought up Kentucky vs Fab5 and Billas pretty much stopped them and said the Fab 5 was better like it shouldn't have even been asked. Pretty cool to hear that and surprising from Jay although I thought he has come around on Michigan a little bit over he got over his buddy being fired.
is waaaaaayyyyy better than May.
Was he ever offered another head coaching job after Notre Dame?
Staples will mourn the drop in profits stemming from his highlighter purchases.
There still is a Fab Five dream team - 2 sandwiches for $5 at Burger King.
The "This announcer hates our team meme" is one of the most tired things about fandom.
I bet every team has many fans who think Digger hated their team and are rejoicing. Whomever his replacement is will similarly have opinions. These opinions will sometimes be true, sometimes turn out to be wrong, but all of them will be taken as slights by some group of fans.
I've learned to ignore all talking heads and instead read great analytical pieces online.
Hurray internet!
but might be the worst analyst of all time.
His imperical evidence that a team will win a tourney game begins and ends with, "I just think they're on a mission."
to bad rubbish.
ESPN didn't renew Digger Phelps' contract and let him go.
Digger Phelps's deal was not renewed by ESPN so it will be interesting if he unretires for another network in the future.
