OT: Did anyone know each other at Michigan?

Submitted by WindyCityBlue on
In the spirit of great off-topic conversation, do you ever wonder if you know some of the people who post on this board? Many of us hide behind the interwebs and funny avatars, but might be replying to your freshman year roommate or someone else you knew at Michigan? The person I know on here is Brian Cook, the fine creator and ambassador of this site. My background: - Class of 2000 LSA, 2008 Ross - 4th floor Anderson, East Quad - 1996 - Lived at 606 Packard from 1997-1999, Then Mary St for the last year - In Comedy Company (part of UAC) from 1997-1999 - Was not in a frat - Worked at Gratzi's for the summer of 1998, and Arbor Brewing Co from 1998-1999. - Was on the front page of the Daily with President Bollinger after we beat PSU on Judgement Day, I am the guy right behind Lee's head taking a picture. - Was with the guy in Pasadena after the NC Rose Bowl who won a new car on the Price is Right - Dated the Editor in Chief of the Daily Does anyone know me? What's your backgound? I dare you...

I am a 6'9" white guy that played on the basketball team. I graduated in 2006. Some people think I look like a Moose.

OK, I'll play. Classical archaeology 2000. I lived in Kelsey hall South Quad freshman year (go roots) and on the seventh floor the next year. After that I lived on State st. across from bell's. Other notables: attended the Leadershape conference, volunteered for the project SAFEhouse.

Please correct me if I'm wrong anyone (I'm sure this is like a game of telephone by the time it got to me) Some guy walked in on him getting it on and screaming "Who's got the Bomb ass Dick?!". Later, that story got around and somehow some of the sportscenter hosts heard it and started calling him "the bomb" in the highlights. Anyone want to fill in missing details?

I don't think someone walked in on him, but they could hear him next door. Rich Eisen, a U-M grad and former Daily sportwriter (for all we know, he probably gets his info from the same circles as us), heard the story and snuck it in during highlights on Sportscenter.

Kinesiology, Sport Management class of 2008. Worked at Cost Plus from 2003-2006, and at Moe's Sport Shop from 2006-2008. I always had my own apartment off campus, but I frequented the Starbucks on South U...I had a coffee in my hand every day for class, and probably had shaky hands from all the caffeine.

No. Didn't live with them but I did know Rosenberg. He tagged along with my housemates. One of them was even in Rosenberg's wedding. In his defense, he is no longer in contact with Rosenberg. I could never stand the guy. He had a weasel-esque quality about him. I always got the impression that if he wasn't around, no one would have really cared. I think Snyder was there during the same time too and I'm sure I ran into him a few times, but I can't remember him at all. I did also know Nick Cotsonika. He was a decent enough guy.

I probably didn't know you, Bosch, but I did know a couple people who were involved with the Daily. One was Maggie Weyhing (which I probably just misspelled) who wrote some articles for the Daily around 1996; the other was the infamous Antoine Pitts who I still can't take seriously (nice guy though).

I probably knew Maggie also but I can't put the name with the face right now. I knew most everyone on the staff in 1997. Us or someone else from the staff would throw a party basically every other weekend. The staffers did know how to party. They actually had a yearly staff party where they would make a jeopardy board where the questions were all pretty personal. Example - Staff hook ups. It was kind of like a roast of the whole staff. It was fucking hilarious.

And honestly, don't neg me for this, I thought they were nice guys. Rosenberg married someone else from the Daily if I remember correctly. He did have a weasel quality about him, maybe it was because I kinda looked like one.

Lived in East Quad, Hayden (I think (EDIT: definitely Hayden, it was called "Hidden Hayden")) 1996, my freshman year. I remember hearing about the guy that won a car on The Price is Right. Man, that was a great year. Wrote for The Daily. Law '04.
