OT: Did anyone know each other at Michigan?

Submitted by WindyCityBlue on
In the spirit of great off-topic conversation, do you ever wonder if you know some of the people who post on this board? Many of us hide behind the interwebs and funny avatars, but might be replying to your freshman year roommate or someone else you knew at Michigan? The person I know on here is Brian Cook, the fine creator and ambassador of this site. My background: - Class of 2000 LSA, 2008 Ross - 4th floor Anderson, East Quad - 1996 - Lived at 606 Packard from 1997-1999, Then Mary St for the last year - In Comedy Company (part of UAC) from 1997-1999 - Was not in a frat - Worked at Gratzi's for the summer of 1998, and Arbor Brewing Co from 1998-1999. - Was on the front page of the Daily with President Bollinger after we beat PSU on Judgement Day, I am the guy right behind Lee's head taking a picture. - Was with the guy in Pasadena after the NC Rose Bowl who won a new car on the Price is Right - Dated the Editor in Chief of the Daily Does anyone know me? What's your backgound? I dare you...

I was also at the Prez's house after we beat PSU. My friends stole Mrs. Bollinger's hair brush and hand mirror for no good reason (one of them is now a lawyer and father of three). I then booted in one of those big-azz concrete garbage cans on South U before pouring myself into a booth at Mitch's. Do you know me.....?

I met Magnus during spring break at a midnight donkey show in Tijuana. Although he hated every minute of being the bottom to that very well hung jackass you could never tell from his genuine enthusiasim to do the work during the show. Magnus was tending to his many scratches and the obviously gaping hole that just moments before was his sphincter and I asked him if he could move to one side so I could hose down the stage...friendship ensued.

BSE '02, MSE '04, PhD '07 all in computer engineering. The only person on the blog that I know I've had contact with is Brian Cook. In '00 I went to a Presidents' Day party at his house, where he dressed up like Abe Lincoln. Half way through the party someone dressed up like John Wilkes Booth ran in the front door and fake-assassinated him. Good times.

1989-1993. Lived ay Couzens for 3 years (got tight with guys a year behind me). Then 1700 Geddes, then 824 McKinley for way too long (Tom Brady and others lived right below me). Frequented Touchdown Cafe from opening day (1992?) till Rida sold it (2002? 2003?). If you were getting you ass kicked in trivia, or wondering who was at the end of the bar schmoozing with the owner and waitresses, it was probably me (and my friends). Have been accused of being everything from the owner to the bus boy at China Gate. Been to a lot of A Capella concerts over the years. Used to be the token white guy (was there a door prize) for my Asian friends for Asian night at the Nectarine (yes, when it was called that) back in the day. Used to occassionally go to my friend's frat partys, but I doubt that's any more illuminating than the rest. If you've been around the program, and/or have been to any of the bowl games in the last decade (and stayed at the team hotel), we may have bumped into each other. Oh, and on Saturdays in the fall I've gone to Michigan Stadium for the last 20 years to hang with 100,000+ of my best friends. Maybe you've seen me there.

I just remembered....Aaron Shea hit my car in the parking lot on McKinley. Aaron, if you're reading this, my mirror has never been the same... ;-) (Also had a run in with Tai Streets, but whatever...)

I graduated in 2006 (HS c/o 2002). Lived in Markley 5th Van Tyne freshman year and SigEp the other 3 years. I also made a number of deep runs in the beer pong tournaments at Rick's my senior year with WolverSwede, who was my roommate at the time.

You all have much better memories than I do for things like addresses and such. I lived in South Quad (7th floor) my freshman year (1993-94), then lived in my frat house for a couple years (Phi Sigma Kappa--the chapter has been pretty much defunct for about 10 years now, house is at 1043 Baldwin), then a place on Ann Street (can't recall the address or cross-street (Glen?) that was across from Domino's Pizza and next to a tow-truck place. I attended law school in Louisville, KY, from 1997-2000, then moved back to A2 in 2001. I sublet a buddy's apartment on E. Ann across from the police station for about 8 months, then moved into a house at 335 John Street and lived there for about 2.5 years. Moved to Seattle in 2005 and have been here ever since. I know there's other Seattle folks on this board...

I know who a couple of people are in here from classes and project teams and such. I've also officially met somewhere between 20-30% of the students from the classes of 2010-2013 before they were even technically students at Michigan.

I lived across the hall from WolverSwede my freshman year but other than that I haven't run across anyone. I'm sure there are others considering I was in two majors (anthro and psych) and have conversations with people over gmail daily about threads on here.
