OT: Dhani Jones - Cohosts New Competition Show On NBC

Submitted by MaizeMN on
Thought about titling the thread, " Dhani Jones is a Spartan", but couldn't stomach reading that. Anyway, nice to see Dhani in the limelight, as cohost of the new Spartan competition series on NBC. I've always been impressed with his entrepreneurial spirit and well-spoken demeanor. Now, if he could only do something about the God-awful name of the show...

We've got this and the NBA Finals on at the moment over here. It's kind of the dirtier, scarier version of American Ninja Warriors when it comes to the nature and breadth of the obstacles, but it actually looks like it would be sort of fun to try out. The slip wall looks absolutely terrifying though.

Hunter McIntyre is my brother. He started doing the spartan race professionally a few years ago and just loves the competition and camaraderie. This team race is obviously different from the usual Spartans, but it's going to be a heck of a series. Excited to finally see it on mainstream tv!

I really liked his "Dhani Jones takes on the World" series where he would try different sports around the globe.  Unfortunately, it was never on at the same time and I could never find it consistently.

Always glad to see Michigan Men succeed in all aspects of life. Great job, Dhani, but yes, for fuck's sake change the name of the show.

I met Dhani at a Mott charity event a few years ago.  Really, really nice guy.  I had a book that outlined every practice and game for the 97 season.  He went right to the Rose Bowl stats and found his one tackle.  He took a picture of it to share with his friends who (for some odd reason) doubted his claim of making a takle in, what turned out to be, the National Championship game.  Dhani was also selling his bowties with all proceeds going to Mott.  He, along with Charles Woodson, walk the walk.

I was super excited about watching this last night, but came away disappointed. I was hoping all the racers were Spartan Elites. I love watching those athletes cruise through these courses.

I'm running the Spartan Trifecta on Oahu this August. I've ran a couple OCR's in the past (tough mudder and an urban warrior challenge). I'm super excited to give my all in 3 Spartan races in one weekend. If I do well enough, next time I'm running with the elites.

And yes, it is tough for me to be training and continually tell myself I'm doing this to become a Spartan. Oh well.
