for persuavering in what has been an frustrating year for the much of the year. Still not as confident in their chances as I was last year, but as we have seen getting to the dance at least gives you a chance. It may hinge on Scherzer's health. A healthy Verlander, Scherzer and Fister pitching well at least gives you a fighting chance, even with inconsistent hitting and sketchy defense.
In the fine tradition of MGoWordsmithing, I commend your contribution of "persuavering"
for my own good. Persevering, it is.
Persuavering. v. The act of overcoming adversity or hardship while simultaneously looking good or "suave" in doing so.

No way you sit MIggy. Maybe only have him DH for the last 2 days.
He's going for history. He's got to play the last two. They can't take the cheap way out. (Ted Williams, if he were unfrozen, would agree.)
He's the first player to have a real shot at the Triple Crown in 45 years, you have to play him, but not necessarily in the field.
I mean, other players have come close in the past, but I can't remember a player leading in all three categories with only two games to go in the season.
"...what do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?"
"Fix the cigarette lighter."
not a doubt. Coke and Benoit already look drunk.
Let the good times roll baby! Go Tigers!
I hate ohio. Thats all you need to know.
I just wish they were dumping champagne on Shannon Hogan.
I'd give you +1000 if I could.
This feels good. After being on the other end of things in '09, we can all feel Chicago's pain. It's nice to have this over with so we can breathe again.
Also, Cabrera went 4-5 with 1 HR and had a beautiful catch in the 9th. What a night!
You have to let Miggy defend his homerun crown. Texas is in a dogfight for homefield advantage and division title, so Hamilton is going to be playing.
Batting title and RBI title seem safe even if Miggy doesn't hit well.
Yeeeeeeaaaah boy!
Homer? Who is Homer? My name is Wolverine Incognito.
When you're from Detroit, living in Chicago, there's not a whole lot you can brag about. So when you get the chance you make the most of it. There's only a couple of Sox fans at the office, but by God I'm gonna be absolutely insufferable tomorrow...
He doesn't want to go down!

Am I supposed to take from that video that Boy George is a tigers fan? What an endorsement!
Take your delta bravo-ery and Bruno Kirby 'staches and go sit over there.
Be honest in retrospect: Did anyone really expect this season to go any differently?
"Is there enough magic out there in the moonlight to make this dream come true?"
the frustrations throughout the season and the fact that it wasn't easy does make it a little sweeter.
Not sure who called it, but Leyland did in fact breakdown a little postgame. People can say whatever they want about the guy, and I would be lying if I said I didn't second guess him at times, but however you slice it 3 playoff appearances in his tenure isn't too shabby. He was right in his postgame presser, when he said it is mostly about the players, which is what I have been trying to get across to the fire Leyland crowd all year. The reason it wasn't easy was because certain players didn't have the years they were expecting, that is not on the manager. Some guys don't respond to yelling and screaming from the manger, and if Leyland said that is makeup of this team I take his word for it.
Does anyone know what time the ALDS game is going to be Saturday? Really hope it doesn't interfere with the Purdue game.
Well both ADLS games are on TBS on Saturday so I'm hoping we end up with the later one so it doesn't interfere with the Michigan game.
"They will meet a dastardly fate here for that! There isn't a Michigan Man who wouldn't like go out and scalp those Buckeyes right now."
There's probably a good chance they get the prime time slot...and there's also a good chance they get the Yankees in the first round
are still only up 1 game on Baltimore. My gut says I would rather see Baltimore, but on the other hand the Tigers have had success against the Yankees in the playoffs and Baltimore has some funky positive mojo going for them.
Actually, I'd rather face New York. Besides Sabathia, their starting pitching is terrible.
Yankees, please. As a Tigers fan living in Baltimore, it would be awesome to be guaranteed a chance to go see them play in the ALDS. However, I've been to about 20 O's games this year and something about this team is magical. Unless our starters can go 9 innings every game, I'd be terrified to see what the O's bats will do against our relievers. No lead is safe against the O's.
"And when we play as a team, when the old season is over, you and I know, it's gonna be Michigan again, Michigan."
Baltimore is the only team that really scares me in the playoffs. They seem to have that "team of destiny" vibe going, so hopefully somebody can knock them off. Maybe in the 1-game wild card.
They are also the worst team in the playoffs, so I wouldn't mind facing them.
True, but the Orioles lead in almost every team batting category in September. They've played bad yet winning baseball. They're a team that even when you outplay them 8 out of 9 innings, they find a way to win more often than not. They're just a weird team. They could come out completely flat and the Tigers could sweep them or they could go on a tear. At least with the Yankees you know what you're going to get, and I think the Tigers a better team.
"And when we play as a team, when the old season is over, you and I know, it's gonna be Michigan again, Michigan."
I believe there is only one ALDS series starting Saturday w/ the the other one on Sunday. The winner of the wild card play-in game will be in the Sunday series vs. the top seed so I'd think that the Tigers are certainly starting Saturday. Same goes for NL. I'd think Tigers/Yankees or Tigers/Rangers would get the prime time slot.
Very nice, at least one Detroit team is winning.
