OT Detroit Tigers 4-29-10
Tigers are 6 outs from taking series with the Twinkies. Very good outing for Dontrelle and Zumaya is hitting 100 mph consistenly. Young Austin Jackson continues to impress

That comeback yesterday might have lit a fire underneath the Tigers.
Well played game today with a great job of pitching - which the Tigers desperately needed.

Who has had a great season, just one bad start.

I cannot watch the game today, but it sounds like Dontrelle had a hell of a start. Good for him. I got the opportunity to speak with Dontrelle during the 2005 Home Run Derby at Comerica Park. He is an extremely nice guy, very down to earth and caring. I have held out hope that he would get his form back. Here's to hoping he is well on his way!
One bad thing about Dontrelle Willis as a person. Everyone says they want him to succeed, how great a guy he is, how he works harder than just about anyone, and how he just wants to help his team win. He looks like he might be regaining some of what made him so good, I can't wait to check out the pitchFX data from today's start. He looks like he actually is in command of hitter's again, not the other way around.
Seems like a fun game.
Edit: And congrats to Maggs on his 2000 and 2001 hits!
Zumaya looks incredible this year....there's just no other way to describe it. I wonder if his newer throwing motion is having an effect on his performance.
Obviously pumped for Dontrelle also.....tons of first pitch strikes. Mauer and Morneau didn't play today but even without them Minnesota has a solid lineup, so this is an excellent start regardless. As always, the wait and see approach has to be taken with him until he can string a few like this together.
It's dark here in Ann Arbor. Rain's a comin
Great game for Dontrelle Willis!
Lets hope he can keep it up into May.
So how long does this last? Has he regained confidence? Was his terribleness of yore just mental?
Intro Psychology teachers at Eastern have got to love having the Watertower as an illustration when teaching on Freud.
I remember being young and riding in the backseat to Arborland (back when it was a real mall) and asking my dad what it was.
A phallic symbol, son. A phallic symbol. General Ypsilanti was a sick man.
So I'd say whatever has changed for him is probably not something that will disappear all of a sudden. It was something that needed a long time to come back into focus and should, hopefully, stay there.
The real question is, how good of a season does he need to have to be offered an extension?
I'd say 8+ wins gets him an extension.
Kind of an open ended question....depends on the market, how much he's asking for.....too many variables for a definitive answer or even a ballpark.
Let's see D-train finish this season in the rotation before talking extension. I was pleasantly suprised to see his stat line when i pulled up the game tracker minutes ago, but he still makes me nervous.
