My draft is this Sunday. Yay for football!

As far as the Lions, I've done pretty well picking up Lions players that my league-mates (none of whom are Michiganders) avoid. But I'm not sure about this year. Calvin, obviously. Bush has put up great numbers in preseason, but I question how much he can really do with no other viable offensive threat after Megatron. Broyles will probably be worth a late round flyer; I think he'll turn into a solid player if not this year, then next. Stafford I'm on the fence about; it'll on depend on when you take him.

After that, I don't see much. The TEs will be Pettigrew not catching enough balls thrown his way and Scheffler not getting enough targets to be a reliable fantasy prospect. The kicker will be as good as any kicker. As far as defenses, I pretty much just go by match-up every week.

I think Staff is worth a pick because Detroit throws so much. Broyles is a really good second WR (not WR2, but a second WR on a team) if you have a deep league. Wouldn't touch any of the other RBs, don't trust Pettigrew enough, and don't trust their defense.

I didn't read the article, but I am usually very good in fantasy football. Pettigrew would be a good pick as a #2 TE because you can probably pick him up at a decent position in the draft and I think he might put up some good numbers this year

I would also take Reggie Bush fairly early. It really looks like they are trying to fit a lot of the offense around him and with worrying about Calvin it should open up some space.

Of course, when you draft you have to realize hometown bias is probably going to take hold so most Detroit guys are going to be taken earlier than they should be.

Same team n asmr the last 2 years and I've won my league the last 2 years with Calvin as one of my keepers. He's a monster and can carry the team.
Bush: lions are paying for a career year in his contract year. He's an iffy #2 due to injury history. Historically he's way better on turf than grass. How does he do outside at Lambeau and Soldier field?
Broyles: Worth a late round flyer IF it's a deep league. 8-10 teams you can find a better option. 12+ he may be worth a bench slot.
Stafford: if I can get him late, he's a good option at qb. Rodgers/Brees are elite. Brady is B+(lost his best receiver, gronk is out who knows how long, we all know Hernandez) Manning is B too. After that there's a big clump of next tier guys who aren't that different. So your team would be better off using the first 6 or so picks on rb/wr/te and secure those positions then getting Stafford in the mid rounds.

Reggie Bush has to be considered as a 1st rounder or at least early 2nd round. He'll catch 85 passes at minimum.

Joique Bell is a nice handcuff in case Bush goes down with injury.  He can catch and is a better inside runner than Bush.

Lions will throw a ton and that benefits the owner if they own Stafford. If he can reach at least close to 2011 level, it's a steal at 5th round.

Broyles would be a nice steal at late round if he's back up to speed athleticially wise.  He'll get looks from Stafford at slot WR.

Lions defense are improved and if the real starting 11 are on the field, I'd expect a lot of sacks and turnovers.  They'll be an another sleeper fantasy option that you can pick them in the last round.

Had an auction draft last weekend...

Targetted Megatron above everyone else (AP included) - landed him for $66 in a 10-team PPR league.  So I overpaid slightly, but for the best player on the board.

Got Stafford for $9.  And picked up Broyles and LeShoure late for $1 each.

Got Beastmode for $52.  Stole CJ2K for $25.

I think if you hold on to Broyles, he's going to be a steal later in the season. I doubt Leshoure will even be worth the dollar you paid for him, unfortunately. I had high hopes for him when Detroit drafted him that were semi-rekindled last season, but now he seems buried on the depth chart.

Dollar guys in the draft are like last round picks - fliers who you take to fill out the roster.  He's the first RB getting dropped as soon as there's a hot pickup.

We were discussing Lions guys, so I felt I had to mention him.

That being said, he might turn into a goalline vulture.  And he's looked quicker than previous years so far this preseason.

Stafford fell to me in the 9th - and we have a crazy QB league where TDs are worth 6 pts and you get a 5 pt bonus for 300 yards passing.  I had Luck as my keeper, but I took Stafford anyway.  He'll be my keeper for next season.

Missed Reggie by one pick in the 4th but took Joique in the 18th and final round.  Avoided Burleson, Broyles and Pettigrew like the plague.

OT - anyone see Roy Roundtree do that Taylor Mays imitation on Hard Knocks?  Hilarious!

Bush is going to produce in ppr, but he is usually going early second which is crazy considering who else you can have there.

Calvin is good, but this year has five other guys: Marshall, Dez, AJgreen, D. Thomas, and Julio who are just as likely as he is to lead the league in points.  yeah, I said it.  I still have calvin number one but I think you can wait a round and get any of those other five guys and have a better value out of your rounds 1 and 2.  In auction to blow your load on a wideout isn't without merite but I would rather target people like colston, vincent jackson, welker, as a number one and Hinton, Nicks, and desean jackson as undervalued receivers who will produce at a much lower cost  (note: hinton is moving on up the boards/auction values already)

pettigrew is a great pick if you miss out on all other quality tight ends but I would rather role the dice with Cameron or Housler who have much higher upside....

and whomever kicks (pleas be kickalicious lol) will be top five cause we suck in the red zone and chew up meaningless yards.

your welcome,
