OT: DeSean Jackson Cut by the Eagles

Anyways - I was shocked to read DeSean Jackson was CUT today by the Eagles. Although I had read of their dissatisfaction and desire to move him, I assumed he would be TRADED and not Cut outright. They get nothing for him, and take a cap hit to boot.
Not sure this makes much sense to me - but the revelations in this article about Gang affiliation are new to me. Is that enough reason to cut a top talent and get nothing in return? Would you want him on your team??

Now, Jackson is out in Philadelphia, and on the same day that a published report from NJ.com said that the club was troubled by his off-field habits. The NJ.com report alleged that Jackson’s relationship with gang members was one of the issues that bothered the Eagles’ organization.
Maybe a place like Oakland where he can be top dog and they need one.
ESPN analysts are all rushing to judgement. I think this was a financial decision. $10M salary next year. They have McCoy, Maclin, Cooper, and Sproles. Those $10M are resources that can be allocated elsewhere. There is absolutely nothing credible to indicate that DeSean is a gang banger...
It's arguable whether he's worth $10MM to a team but what isn't is that he's a dynamic, game changing player in the prime of his career. His current contrat was just given to him less than 2 years ago and he's done nothing on the field but put up better numbers. For a player of his stature, $10MM per is the going rate, IMO.
They take a $6 million cap hit by cutting him.
The business side of the NFL absolutely sucks. Only sport in the world where good players get consistently cut from teams.
Let's see, Jackson has a history of holding out when he thinks he deserves more money, just held out 2 years ago to get his present contract pyaing him $10M, was on record as saying that he felt he deserved more money after last year, and gets questioned by police in connection to two murders by his known associate. Why is this a surprise again?
