OT: Derrick Rose out for season
AIRBHG has moved east to Chicago. Feel bad for Derrick and the bulls faithful. Seems like us Michigan fans aren't the only ones having bad luck lately.

Does this mean we'll have to deal with another round of "THE COMEBACK" commercials or whatever they were calling it to hype up Rose's recovery? They somehow failed to generate in me any sympathy for the shocked, saddened, and downtrodden fans depicted in the ads.

Next time, Adidas can run some "He's Back...Probably" commericials.
Wish DRose the best, but two knee surgeries in two years spells the end of a career to me. At least an All-Star caliber career anyways.

It will be super easy to get around Chicago the next few months as everyone who lives there is locked in place until Rose rehabs the injury. However, it will be a total bitch to get a cab.

The guy can't catch a break. And boy, he is exciting to watch when he's healthy. I just hope he can come back like normal after another knee injury.

for me as a Bulls fan: This should hopefully cost the Bulls a playoff berth, putting them in the draft lotto and giving them a shot at McGary or GRIII in next year's draft. I'd love to have a Bulls jersey with a M player's name on it.

As a Bulls fan - I really hope they don't take GRIII

assuming he can stay healthy, I would love to see him with his energy in person on a regular basis. GRIII still needs some more seasoning to develop a bit but if he's decent I'd still love to have him.

think it is very likely that he is going to be the same player again. I was watching him whenever I had the chance this year because he is quite a talent but it looked unquestionably like he had lost a step before this latest injury. I know that it was expected that it would take some time before he was playing at full speed after coming off of that kind of rehab, but he was definately without a certain explosiveness that he once had. The Bulls as an organization need to start thinking about how long they are going to give him to get healthy before they start trying to convince another team that he will be healthy for trade purposes or look to make another move. They have a roster to contend in the East but they cannot wait perpetually for Rose to return for good or their window will close. I would not be surprised if they look at point guards in the upcoming draft or figure out a way to try to acquire Rondo. They are a team that is built to win now and I don't know how much longer they will cling to the "idea" of a healthy Derick Rose.

The East is terrible. If the Bulls do not make the playoffs, they either moved some people or are a whole lot worse than people predicted. It's not impossible, but you're going to be competiting with Cleveland, Washington, and Detroit. Chicago has to be better than those three, right?
November 25th, 2013 at 11:57 AM ^
are going to make the playoffs but "making the playoffs" in the East just means that you may or may not make it far enough to get beat by the Heat in 5. Chicago with Rose is the only team, excepting possibly Indi (not really) that has a legit chance to beat Miami. That chance no longer exists so it is just another Miami corronation in the East which is becomming tiresome. (I know Indi played them tough last year but I don't think they are a real threat to the Heat now that Miami sees them coming).

How did Miami not see Indy coming? The Pacers were 2-1 against the Heat in the regular season and took them to 7 games in the playoffs. The Pacers have improved their roster this year and if they keep playing good ball, may have home court advantage. The Pacers are the only team in the East with a good shot at taking the Heat down.

Not sure why in the world, though, you'd want GRIII at this point in time. All hype, zero follow-through. I know the NBA drafts for potential, and he's got a lot of it, but he's shown us nothing so far to indicate he should be lottery-pick status. Maybe not even first-round status.

I have no idea why Stauskus is not higher on draft boards than GR III. Stauskus looks like the whole package to me offensively. He is JJ Redick with a good deal more athleticism and an extra couple of inches. If I was a pro scout in Puerto Rico, Nick Stauskas as a legit pro was the takeaway from that tournament.

This season has rendered me...preemptively sensitive.

Good comparision. Right down to all of the commericals he has. DRose will probably bounce around the NBA for a while, but his time as a star has got to be done. You can't miss that much time away and add two bad knees to the mix and expect to return to a high level of play.
November 25th, 2013 at 1:04 PM ^
Well the reason that he is going to have a much longer recovery is because he is having a meniscal repair, not meniscectomy (removal of part of this). The goal is that this knee will function more like his "normal" pre-injury knee. This of course isn't a guarentee but the quicker recovery would be to just cut out the damaged portion. If this was done though he knee would very much never be the same.
Your larger point though may be true that missing what is basically 2 consecutive seasons and sustaining previous injuries to both knees may derail his superstar stautus/career. This is terrible for him, and for the NBA, becuase I think the Bulls with a healthy Rose could give Miami real competition. Now between this injury and rumors of the Heat breaking up, we may never know.

always sad, but i think wihtout rose osu is more beatable. so silverlining?

They need to look into trading Deng ASAP. Impending free agent and very good player, someone will give up some useful stuff for him. And then tank as much as possible, hopefully get into the lottery.

Between the Iowa game, this, and Michigan losing to Charlotte yesterday... he didn't have a very good weekend to say the least...

You forgot the Bears. I can't wait to see how many yards AD gashes us for [sobs about DTs, LBs, Tillman... Bears are missing 4+ defensive pro-bowlers this year]
Thank all that is holy for Hockey.
