The fact that they laughed during the post-crime interview would be enough for me to make sure they have brutally long sentences if I was making the decision. How do you justify someone not paying you back by trying to steal an expensive bike and then burning them more than half to death...? I kind of want to know more of the details of the "not paying back" before fully judging that, but at first sight that's a horrible crime and those guys should all be behind bars for awhile.

There's nothing to judge. What justifies burning someone to near-death? I just went to a talk by a civil rights leader tonight on nonviolent protest--if ever there was justification for violence, that was it. This is inhuman and deserving of serious punishment.
