"The bigger the lie, the more they believe."
"Jim's a tough guy and you can see his personality is all over this football team," Fitzgerald said.
"The bigger the lie, the more they believe."
There are people who believe this
and that makes me fucking angry
because jesus this is such obvious bullshit
and here's the fake tears
Must have taken acting lessons with Manti
I'm confused, in his statement he said he communicated with her on the phone but the account was operated by a male....
I'd say Tressel getting canned on Memorial Day 2011 still trumps this story.
oh, never been turned over to law enforcement? that sounds plausible
I first heard this story today on my way home from work on 97.1 the ticket, with Valenti and Foster, and I just got to reading the article including Manti's statement...
First off, pretty sick he would even do this. Secondly, with your statement, quit acting like a victim, you lied to your fan base, not the other way around. The only cruel joke here is trying to win the Heisman trophy aided by pity. Finally, just say you needed inspiration to play better so you created this to make your team play better. Seriously, what a nutcase... This plus his horrible game against Alabama which showed every flaw in his game just cost him a lot of money.
Whatever, John. I remember that episode of Full House where your girlfriend was dying and you used it as your inspiration to play your greatest-ever concert with the Beach Boys--and then it turned out just to be a TV show and she wasn't really dying and wasn't even your girlfriend in real life. I was just a kid when I saw that, and still haven't gotten over it to this day.
"see, for kids today meeting online is the same as meeting in person so in his mind he did meet her!"
so let's get this straight
Manti gets a call from his dead girlfriend
and he then waits 2 weeks to tell the university
and never contatcs law enforcement
"Those people who will be the least skeptical will be those who use social media"... Jack, wake up pal. I mean really if my girlfriend has cancer and i have never met her, probably time to hop a plane. Save the crocodile tears jack, those dollars aren't going anywhere.
At least this is good for some fun chuckles at a rival school. The real fkn damn shame here is that the off-the-field kerfuffle that will apparently do the most damage to the Notre Dame brand is that one that apparently DOESN'T involve the tragic death of a young person (cf, Sullivan and Seeberg)
Exactly. It's not a coincidence that all this shady shit started happening at ND when Kelly took over. He has quite a history..
I completely agree. I actually work with Seeberg's dad. ND is making mistake after mistake in my opinion. It's embarrassing for a very respected institution.
Now during this press conference the AD won't admit how ridiculous this whole story is, just say Te'o made up the whole story! I can't stand listening to this guy still gushing over Te'o and the "kind of son he is" and you "don't know Manti". The guy is a fraud jackass that turned the ND media hype to his advantage and almost got a heisman in part due to it.
pfft, if you'd seen that report that was compiled by a private investigative firm (that we can't name), you'd see that Te'o was the victim of crimes (that I can't name even though I'm a lawyer). He's so wonderful, though, that he doesn't want to see these people who took advantage of him prosecuted and therefore we won't release the report (which totally exists).
As to the details of the report, well I don't really remember. But kids today believe meeting online and meeting in person are the same thing, so that probably explains whatever inconsitent thing Manti and his dad told you. Also Catfish. Doctor Phil said it happens all the time so there.
I wasn't able to watch the presser myself, so I appreciate getting this summary (which is probably more accurate than the actual presser).
Can't vote yet, but this captures the press conference perfectly.
Let he who has had no fake online girlfriend dying of leukemia cast the first stone.
of himself and ND. The school jumped to the podium way too fast. What this boils down to is the relationship between Te'o and this guy Tuiossoppo (spelling?). It's being reported these two had a very good relationship and that Tuiossoppo may be the mastermind behind this but that Te'o knew what was going on. For Swarbrick to stand up in a press conference and say they did a thorough investigation is foolish. It's one thing to do damage control but stupid to try it when you don't have all the facts. Good, bad or otherwise ND needs to have a heart to heart with Te'o regarding his relationship with Tuiossoppo. Te'o has made several false statements and ND better get to the bottom of it before defending ANYONE.
what the hell
nobody buys this right
The best part of that conference was Swarbrick trying to avoid the fact that Teo lied about this repeatedly. If he didn't know she was fake Te'o still let this go on for months with stories about meeting her in California and Haiwaii, and misleading people about the nature of the relationship.
All those articles and he didnt correct a single one. Come on man!
no see all the kids say they "met" people they only know from the internet
so like he "met" her online, see!!!!!
also she was SUPPOSED to meet him in Hawaii and then didn't! but he's so wonderful he never became suspicious!
I guess that's what you get for dating Christy Turlington.
+1 for the CHY reference.
"I have no legs!"
Now your school wont call the cops for you because they aren't the victim. Harassment is a crime no?
also Cozy regarding the statement ""Those people who will be the least skeptical will be those who use social media"" is so stupid because this guy is the one who is least skeptical. You don't think in today's techno age that a 2 year long "online relationship" would never have any face timing or skyping? Get a hint, Manti is a fraud
How does a college age kid not skype with his girlfriend who lives on the other side of the country? Skype is everywhere. My parents who are in their 60s Skype and facetime.
Te'o is McNaulty; ESPN is Templeton.
It is all in my notes..
Let me see, does this look about right? Kekua:Einhorn :: Tuiasosopo:Finkel
That is all
To hell with Notre Dame was prophecy not declaration
Makes as much sense as any other explanation
Interesting article from October..
"They started out as just friends," Brian Te'o said. "Every once in a while, she would travel to Hawaii, and that happened to be the time Manti was home, so he would meet with her there. But within the last year, they became a couple.
Lennay Kekua was a Stanford student and Cardinal football fan when the two exchanged glances, handshakes and phone numbers that fateful weekend three seasons ago.
I'm apparently 6 hrs late on this story, and everyone is pointing to this South Bend Tribune article as the smoking gun against T'eo being involved, but they took down this article. Does anyone have a cache copy?
Notre Dame has a super duper secret report, put together by their super duper secret investigative firm, which easily proves Manti was the victim in all of this, but they're not going to make any of it public?
Hey how'd you get that private gif my girlfriend sent only to me??
I'm going to wait to reserve judgement on this until all of the "facts" have been straightened out. May take awhile....I have a feeling this is a deep rabbit hole.
This now means teo will be drafted by the lions
raiders at 3
So to quickly look back:
Declan Sullivan actually dies and ND, Kelly and to a certain extent ESPN show no remorse and aren't forth coming with truth or details.
Manti T'eo's fake girlfriend dies and it is exploited and used as propaganda up to and passed the NC game.
To hell with Notre Dame.
which will work, as evidenced by Sullivan's death and OSU's tatgate.
I wonder what LSUFreek is going to come up with?
It boggles my mind that ND and others may actually believe this guy was a victim. Aside from the "visits", how can anyone possibly believe that this guy would never actually have met or see his "girlfriend" after supposed bouts with leukemia, a car accident and then her death.
if my internet girlfriend were to have a serious car accident, then cancer, and then be on her deathbed, I'd rather go to practice and play football games. Priorities! :)
