OT: Deadspin article on story of the death of Manti te'o's girlfriend being hoax *UNLOCKED*

This press conference is total BS

Swarbrick looks terrified and his answers are so full of shit

so that begs the question: why is ND trying to cover this up?

Yah I'm not buying the fact that the hoax people had nothing better to do than sleep with their phones or talk for hours with Manti Te'o at night.  He knew, if he was in on it the whole time is the question.

like there was a girl who was willing to have 9 hour long phone conversations with Manti for no reason other than Catfish brah cause Doctor Phil said that's a thing

oh, never been turned over to law enforcement? that sounds plausible 

I first heard this story today on my way home from work on 97.1 the ticket, with Valenti and Foster, and I just got to reading the article including Manti's statement...

First off, pretty sick he would even do this. Secondly, with your statement, quit acting like a victim, you lied to your fan base, not the other way around. The only cruel joke here is trying to win the Heisman trophy aided by pity. Finally, just say you needed inspiration to play better so you created this to make your team play better. Seriously, what a nutcase... This plus his horrible game against Alabama which showed every flaw in his game just cost him a lot of money.

Manti gets a call from his dead girlfriend 

and he then waits 2 weeks to tell the university

and never contatcs law enforcement

At least this is good for some fun chuckles at a rival school.  The real fkn damn shame here is that the off-the-field kerfuffle that will apparently do the most damage to the Notre Dame brand is that one that apparently DOESN'T involve the tragic death of a young person (cf, Sullivan and Seeberg)

Now during this press conference the AD won't admit how ridiculous this whole story is, just say Te'o made up the whole story! I can't stand listening to this guy still gushing over Te'o and the "kind of son he is" and you "don't know Manti". The guy is a fraud jackass that turned the ND media hype to his advantage and almost got a heisman in part due to it.

of himself and ND. The school jumped to the podium way too fast. What this boils down to is the relationship between Te'o and this guy Tuiossoppo (spelling?). It's being reported these two had a very good relationship and that Tuiossoppo may be the mastermind behind this but that Te'o knew what was going on. For Swarbrick to stand up in a press conference and say they did a thorough investigation is foolish. It's one thing to do damage control but stupid to try it when you don't have all the facts. Good, bad or otherwise ND needs to have a heart to heart with Te'o regarding his relationship with Tuiossoppo. Te'o has made several false statements and ND better get to the bottom of it before defending ANYONE.

The best part of that conference was Swarbrick trying to avoid the fact that Teo lied about this repeatedly.  If he didn't know she was fake Te'o still let this go on for months with stories about meeting her in California and Haiwaii, and misleading people about the nature of the relationship.

I guess that's what you get for dating Christy Turlington.
