His dad was an assistant coach on my JV football team. He was in his early 20s at the time, and near-Barwis tough. He would strap on a helmet and play LB or fullback for the scout team - in shorts and a T-shirt, with no pads at all. Nice guy, as long as you didn't have to tackle him.
