Our second favorite team in the tournament (Dayton) has just toppled the Syracuse Orange. Wisconsin also on upset alert. Are we on pace for a rematch of a rematch of a rematch with Michigan State?
OT: 'Cuse has fallen
I had OSU in the Elite Eight but my bracket will be fully recovered versus the others in my pool if Dayton can do that one more time.
THE University of Dayton henceforth
Yea, my bad. I am relatively new to the board and the OT/Non OT rules are still relatively confusing.
5/30/2012 is considered relatively new??? man I didn't know i could still play the "I'm new around these parts" card...
Had the account for a while but didn't start actively using it until last fall.
Don't worry about it. If you upset some people on here about a redundant rule it says more about them than you. I have never understood why I need an announcement to indicate that I am about to read a title that will indicate that the subject has nothing to do with Michigan athletics.
I think you had it right. Syracuse losing is definitely of interest and worth a post, but OT since we don't play them this year.
I had to watch this gif like 10 tens before I realized what I was supposed to be laughing at hahaha
My dad went to Dayton. Dude has literally never had a chance to talk smack about his sports teams. May you enjoy the next week father of mine.
They've had several good NCAA tournament runs over the years.
Lot of History at UD for your dad to be proud of. Chuck Knoll, John Gruden, Ann Meyers, etc. Team lost to UCLA in the tourney in triple overtime in '74 when UCLA had a streak of championships, etc. Recently rated the 20th most valuable basketball team in the NCAA. Go Flyers!
Ann Meyers was my geometry teacher in high school. Great day for me as a Michigan fan from Dayton.
Harvard is probably my second right now, obviuosly Dayton did me a solid (had them in Sweet 16) but i also picked Harvard getting there just because i can't stand writing MSU more than once
THE University of Dayton! Go Flyers!
I actually stayed with this game most of the way, and for a long time, it was pretty brutal. Indeed, the eFG% for both teams at the end:
Dayton - 48.91%, much of which came in the second half.
Syracuse - 38.9%. That includes being 0-10 from three-point land, of course.
Offensive rebounding was 30%-ish for both teams actually. If Dayton had taken advantage of the nearly 40% free throw rate and not gone 10-18 from the stripe, it probably would not have come down to a desperation three for Syracuse (which missed, of course).
Nonetheless, Dayton goes to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 1984, I believe, and if Syracuse can find its way out of its own zone, they will vacate the locker room.
yeah i had this game on the big screen the whole way..... it was a brutal watch for the longest time. found myself checking the other tvs way too often
Also- final perfect bracket has fallen
The funny thing is that Mr Perfect Bracket will probably not even win his own local pool.
Ennis was getting to the rack. I don't know why he settled for jumpers on those last two possessions.
You said rack.
He obviously knows how to beat a 2-3 zone.
Just got in an argument with James Blackmon on Xbox about Tom Crean being a douche. He then said that Coach B is a terrible coach and I got very upset. He was saying they're going to beat our ass next year and win the National Championship. It's safe to say I'm not a fan of James Blackmon.
if someone says Beilen is a bad coach? That's so clearly incorrect, it discredits anything else the person says. Indiana's one fo the blueblood programs; the fact they aren't in the tournament speaks volumes about Crean.
For the shit he was talking. It's truly amazing how well these coaches sell their programs. He continued to bring up Michigan not being good for 20 years and the Fab 5 sanctions. He must forget Kelvin Sampson and the last time Indiana was good.
When was the last time IU was good? When I started watching college basketball they were on the same level as Michigan pretty much.
How's the CBI Slapstick? Oh yeah, that's right, your program is too storied to stoop to that level.
Makes John Beilein bleed his own blood. No one.
Of course, State did catch a huge break as well with a key Iowa State player getting injured yesterday.
Wait, Staee caught a break with an injury to another team? But the injury gods would never help them out, so it obviously didn't happen
To my hometown and current town Dayton! Yeah buddy!
I grew up watching the Dayton Flyers. I couldn't be happier to have Dayton and Michigan in the Sweet 16!
Same here, go blue and go UD!
Never saw a team get so excited to take the lead over Harvard.
I wish TNT would let the Harvard anncr do the broadcast. Would be nerdaliciously awesome.
Was that Milhouse on the call?
Better than listening to Gottlieb
So, might we now have a sweet sixteen with three B1G teams?
