OT: current Nebraska OL rips athletic director

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

I think Nebraska made a mistake. 4 division titles and this is the one year they DON'T lose 4 games under Pelini.

This'll go down as the worst decision Eichorst will make in his career. He don't care tho. Just biding his time til Wisconsin opens up.

At the end of the day Bo was the only one who gave a shit about us. You think Eichorst or Pearlman gave a shit? All they care about is $$$

I can guarantee not one of us has ever even had a conversation with either of them.

Armstrong-

Biggest mistake you ever made.... Bo was the best coach I've ever had and I'll always appreciate the things you taught me.

Suh-

The leadership issues at the University of Nebraska extend above the Head Football Coach's office.

Yep.  Nebraska's chancellor brings in a guy from Miami (yes that Miami) who had been making $275k as AD and then gives him $1m for the purpose of a personal lap dog.

The existence of the audio clip wasn't a secret in the AD. It's believed someone loyal to Eichorst/Perlman's agenda leaked the audio clip to Deadspin the Monday after the 2013 UCLA home loss.

The expected shitstorm ensues and Eichorst and Perlman think they can now fire Pelini for cause and not have to pony up the buyout.

Because why else would a "supportive" Nebraska AD be silent with no official damage control response on the matter for two days?

Finally on Wednesday Osborne acknowledges that not only did he know about the two-year old audio clip, he discussed it with Pelini while he was AD and STILL GAVE HIM A RAISE.  Now there is no way Eichorst can fire Pelini for cause.

But It was just a matter of time until Eichorst flushes the AD of Osborne's loyalists, rustles up the buyout cash and does an end run on the Board of Regents.

This was a firing that had been long in the making.

It's a weird move given his relative success, but it's still a team that tends to lose 3-4 games a year and hasn't had a good defense since they left the Big 12.  I'm guessing the Nebraska AD looked at Iowa and said "I don't want that" and made the move.

competing regularly for Conference and National titles. Why should we? 9 win seasons are OK, and expected. Our history says so. It's basically the bare minimum.

I'm glad that our AD has had the balls TWICE recently to reject anything less. UM won't, and shouldn't either, right? That's how you sustain being winingest all time, etc.....not accepting only "good" seasons.

Mistake...

In a few years people will not remember that BP got blow out in marquee games...all they'll look and compare are the records of the next guy to BP..and if he's not even in the conversation because the win total drops by a game or two no one will care that his losses were closer.

I just don't think Neb is ever going to be a perenial contender to get into the playoffs. And with this move that is basically what they are saying the next guy needs to do.

So, unless there is something more to this...poor grad rates? kids getting into trouble? I think its a mistake.
