OT: Crocs Michigan Slides (sandals)
Wanted some Michigan sandals and found that Crocs has a collegiate collection, including U-M. They're actually not bad and are on sale - originally $30, but down to $15.
But you can get them cheaper! Sign up for their email list and you get a 20% off code. You can stack codes, so also use "secondchance" to get free standard shipping. Finally, I went through ebates and should get an additional 7.5% back. Total, it ended up being $11.99 shipped, not including my $0.90 ebate. Not bad, and they still have them in all sizes.

So short story long...
My wife got us a membership to our local Lifetime Fitness. Great because they have a lot of kids programs and amenities (like the childcare center). In an effort to actually make use of this membership, I've been getting up at 6am to exercise before work. The facilities are fantastic, but I needed some new sandals for the showers. My old Tevas just aren't cutting it anymore. I noticed that a lot of folks - being in the Chicago area - are wearing Cubs, Bears, or Illini themed sandals. Of course, I just needed to rep Michigan, which was the impetus for the Michigan sandal search.
Disclaimer: I do not work for Crocs, Lifetime Fitness, or Ebates. I'm just a guy who wanted to share what I think is a good deal with my fellow U-M fans and/or alumni. For the record, Crocs also has Bama, UGA, osu, LSU, Auburn, Florida.
Also, this is my first pair of Crocs ever. Eek.

I was all set to poo-poo you after I saw the title. Crocs are generally hideous and I was all set to dump on you for recommending them, but those look basically like regular sandals. I won't buy them as I don't need any sandals at the moment, but they look a lot better than I expected.
Good find.

FWIW, Crocs now makes a men's line that aren't hideous (IMO) and are incredibly comfortable, according to the adult male in my house (who now swears by them). They look nothing like the clogs. Thankfully.

When someone told me they bought be Crocs for my b-day, I got kind of upset thinking they only made one kind of Crocs. I was pleasantly surprised when I got a pair of these:

They are actually really comfortable.

to be honest, i only looked it up because i saw a guys with Cubs jibbitz (those little crocs decorations), so i considered getting some for my kids. Searched "Michigan" and found these, which were EXACTLY what i was looking for.

I have a pair of adidas slides that were ubiquitous in college dorms 5 years ago, but they were just never comfortable. I just ordered my pair of these. Thanks for the tip andrew!

Which do you prefer? Slide type, or thong type with the little strap between the toes?
I think I prefer the thong style for the visual it brings to mind.
(I pixelated areas of the photo in keeping with the board's discriminating standards of good taste.)

I've always been partial to the slides, for the amount of time I wear sandals, thong sandals start to hurt the gap between my big and second toes.

That's why you buy good thong sandals. Over time you build up resistance to the strap and its painless. Plus, I feel like they aren't going to go flying off.

I can't say no to anything with a M logo on it, and especially when it comes with a deal that I can't pass up. Thank you for the 20% off and the free shipping. Well played.
