OT: Copa America heating up

Submitted by Vengeful Barbarian on

The 2015 Copa America is in full swing, Chile having advanced over Uruguay last night in part because star Uruguayan player Edinson Cavani being shown a red card after responding to this awesome move by the Chilean defender Gonzalo Jara.

Jara has now been suspended, but it's too late for Uruguay who have now been eliminated. I guess this is Karma payback for all of the Luis Suarez biting incidents over the years from the Uruguayans.

All he was doing was giving Cavani a proper prostate exam to be sure that his prostate was of normal size.  Men, we all must go and get our prostate's examined!

Please come to Arsenal Edinson... Please... No one will shove their finger in unwanted areas in the EPL...

I think Jara was the dude who gave Suarez's junk a squeeze during WC qualifiers a few years ago.

Classic Michele on Valdorama from a 90s Real Madrid Valladollid match.

Copa America has been fantastic this year, so much misbehaving.  Chile spent the entire game trying to get Cavani to react since his father had just been arrested for killing a motorcyclist while driving drunk.

Also, I forgot that the knockout round doesn't have extra time and goes straight to penalites. Gonna be interesting to see how the winner of Peru / Bolivia decides to play against Chile.

I never feel back for the South American teams (and most European too) when those antics go against them, because they all fucking do it... Why I watch EPL over any Spanish or Italian league game. Nothing more annoying than watching the last 10 min of a 1 goal game and it's nothing but flopping and faking injuries all over the place

There's definitely diving everywhere in soccer, but there's flopping in every pro sport (D Wade in particular is a master of the head snap arm flail for a call). The antics I'm talking about go to another level, like getting tapped and writhing on the ground in pain like you were shot in the ankle; or my all time favorite, the go to ground with a "cramp" when the play is nowhere near you.

Shit like that really does prevent me from being a bigger soccer fan I feel. Yes, there's some flopping in the NBA, but it's not that bad and it's fairly recent. And I don't watch the NBA anyway. Also, a guy flopping doesn't result in some 15-minute bullshit argument that stops the game for so long.

It really wouldn't be that hard to cut down on it. Just need stronger diving rules, perhaps even after the game with some officials making the call.

Any of grabbing private parts should result in an automatic suspension . . . and your team forfetis the game.  That includes video review after the game is over.  It does not have to be a real-time foul called.  You do it, you and your team are done.

That will stop this filthy behavior.
