OT: Confess your unpopular opinions

Submitted by JeepinBen on

A couple days ago a hashtag made the rounds on twitter that implored users to share opinions they have that aren't the most popular. We've had some quality confession threads in these parts before:

http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/ot-creepy-stories-featuring-story-turned-short

(That one about songs you like but are embarrased about that I can't find)

so let's hear it. What do you believe despite knowing that it's not a popular opinion? Team related or otherwise (yes, many people will want to retain Borges. Be creative).

I'll go first: I really enjoy a good black bean burger and frequently order them rather than beef burgers.

I used to think that, but craft beers are so much better than the average beer drank in this country. I used to be all about Miller Lite, Coors Light, and some others (and don't get me wrong, I will still drink those, but prefer something else), but craft beer is, typically, good. Sam Adams is my favorite beer company right now.

It will not bother me if The Big House is exceeded in seating by another school.

I do not mind alternative jerseys.

Chrome helmets would be pretty cool.

I think Lloyd Carr was overrated.

I don't really care about all time wins, or winning percentage.

I would like to have seen RR get a full five years.

I root for Michigan because I like Michigan and don't try to justify it objectively.

The attendance thing will bother me. I also don't mind, in general, alternate uniforms. Just win. Chrome helmets would look awesome in a home night game. Make it happen, Dave Brandon. Lloyd was not overrated. Was he an elite head coach? No, but he was a good one. I am starting to not care about the all-time wins because lately, we have not been winning enough. I care more about winning now than worrying if someone else will overtake us in the all-time win column.

"How Soon Is Now" is the only decent song by the Smiths.  On the other hand, I like a lot of Phil Collins' work.

Also, I don't believe the return of up/down voting will make much of a difference in the quality of posts on this site.

The NBA is unwatchable. It's not even basketball.

The NFL is boring.

My fiance and I walked out in the middle of Bridesmaids. Dumbest "comedy" I've ever watched.

I can't understand for the life of me, why anyone would have a Twitter account.

Fantasy football is dumb.

Boy, that feels good to get off my chest.

I think Lloyd Carr is amongst the best coaches ever. I think Hoke will be here for many successful years. I think Borges is OK. There are better OCs and there are worse. I liked M-Wolverine. I think Michigan fans are dreadfully unrealistic. I think Messi is twice the player that Pele was and 1.5 times the player than Ronaldo is.

There, I said it.  Big whoop, wanna fight about it?

Edit: I also hate country music but thoroughly enjoy the musical stylings of the great Billy Ray Cyrus.

  • Sofbtall > baseball, and it's not even close.
  • Pulp Fiction is nowhere near a top ten all-time movie.
  • The hate for later seasons of great TV shows is almost always way overblown (Entourage, The Office, ect.).
  • No current Red Wing has a realistic shot at jersey retirement.
  • Bad Santa is the only Christmas movie I look forward to watching.

and I agree with that statement, especially with Datsyuk. But look at the current retired numbers and their resumes.

Production Line I/II, Sawchuk, Yzerman and Lidstrom. Datsyuk doesn't have the resume of any of those players and I don't think it's realistic to expect him to get there, either. Not hating on the guy at all, but I just do not see him as an equal to any of those other greats.

There is no such thing as a sandwich worth $14.00 (I'm talking to you, Zingerman's)

I hate calling them "Ohio." It's stupid and contrived.

"Fergodssakes, it's Michigan" is another meme that should go away.

There's one Justin Bieber song that I actually like.

I love football, but I have to say that the college football postseason is a pile of steaming garbage. I watch one bowl game a year and that is Michigan's. If they aren't playing, I don't watch a single bowl game. I don't even check to see what happens in the games or the scores. I just don't care at all because the system sucks so horribly. I'm not even excited about the four team playoff because four teams doesn't really constitute a playoff to me. If they ever go to an eight team playoff, then I'll get excited.

India Pale Ale sucks.

I don't think Norfleet, even if given more opportunities, is ever going to be a difference maker for Michigan.

Tiger Woods is the best golfer in the world and the best in history, by far.

Magnus is the best non-staff poster on this board.

As a lifelong golfer, I couldn't agree more on Tiger. The things he has accomplished in the game is remarkable. Not to mention he's doing it against far deeper fields than what Jack had to compete against. I think people grossly underestimate the talent on Tour and how hard it is to win 1 tournament, or 1 major, let alone 79 tournaments and 14 majors.

I dislike it when Ace fills in for Brian for one of his regular scheduled columns and does the same exact bits as him.  For example, "fake 40 time" in the recruiting profiles or "Cackle with knowing glee" in the game previews.  Brian has a very special writing style and I feel like only he can enlighten us with humor and insight with these very specific insights.

Ace is a great writer so I wish he would format these type of columns with his own bit, plus it would help with confusion as I often think Brian is writing something Ace wrote.

Buckeyes fan.  I'm glad the Spartans won, since I was sure that FSU would have killed OSU.  And I admire how Michigan State has built their team.  OSU has great recruits, but their defense sucks.  That is the fault of coaching.

I don't trust Meyer.  To me he is still the coach that beat the Bucks in 2007.

I want to get past all my animosity to Michigan.

I hate the "Ohio" thing.  I think that Brady Hoke is making Michigan look stupid by continuing to insist on using that moniker for Ohio State.

  • Advertising in Michigan Stadium wouldn't bother me
  • Sometimes I like uniformz
  • I think Dave Brandon is doing a good job
  • I don't mind Borges staying for year 4

Wow, I could be the most unpopular person on this blog.

1. Dave Brandon is a running joke, but he's been doing an awesome job minus one or two things.

2. Only uniform I didn't like was @MSU.

3. Borges might be a problem. But I think inexperience and lack of execution is a bigger problem. I'll wait another year to pass judgment because I think continuity is an advantage for a senior QB and players who are coming into their own. We can be good next year.

4. I would mind advertising IN the stadium. Don't do it.

An original thought:
I think Kate Upton is THE least attractive SI girl (though still attractive).

A few more from me:

- I like the movie "Clue".

- I cannot comprehend anything which says "decaffeinated" on the label

- I do not care for most of the Disney films made while Walt was alive

- I actually walked out of "Into Darkness" when they stole lines from "The Wrath Of Khan".

- I am a huge fan of the band Devo and own my own Energy Dome.
