OT: Confess your unpopular opinions

Submitted by JeepinBen on

A couple days ago a hashtag made the rounds on twitter that implored users to share opinions they have that aren't the most popular. We've had some quality confession threads in these parts before:

(That one about songs you like but are embarrased about that I can't find)

so let's hear it. What do you believe despite knowing that it's not a popular opinion? Team related or otherwise (yes, many people will want to retain Borges. Be creative).

I'll go first: I really enjoy a good black bean burger and frequently order them rather than beef burgers.

1. I hate Facebook
2. I hate guys with beards, dark framed glasses and skinny jeans
3. So many ladies are wearing yoga pants that,in most cases, it's actually starting to look trashy
4. I hate guns
5. Duck Dynasty is the most embarrassingly pathetic thing on tv.

6. If there's not a B1G Championship coming for Michigan next season then the entire staff needs to be let go and replaced with MSU's staff.

I also loathe Facebook.

I don't have an opinion about your opinion about dudes with beards.

I love the yoga pants.

I think guns are fun.

Duck Dynasty is indeed awful.

Hoke & Co. needs at least two more years. We cannot keep firing coaches if they don't get instant success. RR was a failure because 1) he didn't seemingly give a shit about defense and 2) he wasn't given sufficient time to get his type of team, which was the complete opposite of what Carr did. We are going through the same thing right now. Hoke is trying to assemble a team that is the complete opposite of what RR was building, so it takes time.

The Walking Dead and I don't understand all of the hype that surrounds it.

I have never read or watched anything related to Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings.

I dislike every professional sport league besides the MLB, except the NHL postseason.

I think SportsCenter is okay if it isn't during the afternoon hours.  Keeping on ESPN, whoever is running their SportsNation and ESPN twitter accounts are so annoying.  Every tweet seems like it's laced with  "bro" undertones.

I watch the Young and the Restless.

I think the majority of Michigan's fanbase are raving lunatics and can't enjoy anything without thinking of something negative.

I don't understand the rivalry between NHL and NBA fans.  Two separate sports and both sides think the opposing sport sucks.

College football will replace all other sports as the most popular in America if it hasn't already.

This one is going to hurt to say but Derrick Walton, Jr.  for as talented as he probably is will never be able to replace Trey Burke's production therefore hurting Michigan's chances to get back to make a run to the NC.  I think the 2012-13 season was the pinnacle of John Beilein's career and we'll enjoy success from the basketball team but will not win a national championship.

EDIT: I also think Michigan fans are becoming quite jealous of the Michigan State football program whether they want to admit it or not.  I think they feel threatened and wonder if MSU is the premiere spot for college football in the state of Michigan now.  I think they believe success should only be limited to Michigan football and that somehow MSU doesn't "deserve" anything even though Mark Dantonio has won 10+ games 3 out of the past 4 seasons.

Peanut butter is terrible.

The Batman movies are overrated. Actually, let's just say that all these movies that come from comics are overhyped. Seriously, what is the obsession with superheroes being made into serious/dark styled movies?

Pretty much all of rap music is garbage.

The NFL is boring. I love the Lions, but I can't watch any other teams play. Also the league itself is a farce.

I hate soccer. The sport, the fans, the culture. Everything about it.

I love the Lions but can't stand the NFL.
The men's college basketball tournament is way better than Christmas.
Most American domestic beer sucks.
Pearl Jam is awesome.

I don't need an "unpopular opinions" thread to make mine known, but I will be glad to add to this thread by reiterating a few things I have said before.

I think the most "unpopular opinion" I posted here was a few years ago when I said that our worst nightmare would be if Michigan fired Rich Rod, went back to neanderthal football, and Urban Meyer somehow ended up at Ohio State.

I stand by that opinion.

That leads to another "unpopular opinion" that I have posted repeatedly: whether or not you agree with the decision to hire them, the current staff deserves a full five years to prove their worth.  I think Brady Hoke is a great "frontman" for the program and I hope that Al Borges is allowed to open up the playbook like he did against Ohio last week to see if his version of the WCO can function as a bridge between 20th and 21st century football.

Most of all, though, I think David Brandon should stay out of the football offices and let Hoke and Borges figure out how to win football games.  Brandon's era was in the 20th century; Hoke and Borges are coaching in the 21st century.  Step aside, stop micromanaging, and let the coaches do their jobs.
