OT: Confess your unpopular opinions

Submitted by JeepinBen on

A couple days ago a hashtag made the rounds on twitter that implored users to share opinions they have that aren't the most popular. We've had some quality confession threads in these parts before:

http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/ot-creepy-stories-featuring-story-turned-short

(That one about songs you like but are embarrased about that I can't find)

so let's hear it. What do you believe despite knowing that it's not a popular opinion? Team related or otherwise (yes, many people will want to retain Borges. Be creative).

I'll go first: I really enjoy a good black bean burger and frequently order them rather than beef burgers.

All contemporary music sucks, and by contemporary I'm narrowing it down to pop music: Katy Perry/Miley Cyrus/Taylor Swift, boy bands, dubstep, Nicki Minaj and anyone who sounds like her, and anyone who's won a Grammy in the past six years. If you disagree with me, let's talk in 15 or so years, when you won't remember one song you listened to 15 years earlier.

Any downvotes I get for this are pre-forgiven.

-  MLB and golf are pretty much unwatchable to me.

- I like a lot of Lady Gaga's music and think she's got some serious talent

- Sparty's fight song is certainly no Victors but it's still a pretty snappy tune. *

* - Not so much with OSU.  Dude next to me at the office has the OSU band's 'Hang On Sloppy' (sic) as his cell ringtone, and it's starting to grate on me.  To the point where I want to alienate half my Facebook feed by posting something bitterly snarky about how classically Ohio it is to use as their unofficial song an off-tune paean about a low-class piece of trailer trash.

I'm actually happy we're going to the BWW bowl with an evenly matched opponent. I've been a Michigan fan for 10 years and I've only seen Michigan win only two bowls in that stretch. We are 7-5 what did you expect? Enjoy it for what it is. A rare chance at a bowl victory and a way to wrap up the season on a positive note.

I think Grant Hill had an overrated career. A couple of years ago I'm mentioned this on the board and had my comment vaporized by neg-votes. Therefore I feel compelled to mention this again on the apparent eve of the return of the neg-vote.

Living in Michigan is actually pretty cool.  We don't have to deal with ridiculous weather, have bad pest problems, it's not too hot (but it's cold), and no earthquakes.  It's pretty sheltered over here.

This thread reminds me of that scene in "Almost Famous" when the band's plane is going down and everyone screams out their most personal - and damning -  confessions and then the pilot suddenly rights the plane, leaving everyone sitting there awkwardly, having just confessed to affairs and being gay (although that word stood out to me because I dont know if "gay" was used that much in the 70's).

1. Sriracha is shitty

2. I'd be happy if the southeastern portion of the US got donated to Mexico or something. There'd be some initial confusion about the use of the word "football," but America gets some quality addition by subtraction.

Lloyd Carr is an overrated luddite when it comes to football strategy and coaching staff construction.  The sooner the Michigan leadership moves on from his beliefs and his coaching tree, the more successful Michigan football will be.

Love him as a scholar, a gentleman, and a fundraiser, but his Macchiavellian influence on the program is holding us back.

The Big Lebowski is an ok movie. It appeals to the teenager in all of us. The Cohens have done much, much better.

The construction [adjective] [noun] is [repeat adjective] is just awful (e.g., awful meme is awful). In using it, you are telling the world that you have zero creativity. And you are lazy.

I think Hoke will be the next Bo.

I think Michigan fans are no worse than any other passionate fanbase. To think otherwise is just solipsistic.

Baseball sucks.

The NFL is a watered-down version of college football. Who really cares who wins?

The NBA is a freakshow.

M-Wolverine was one of the best posters here.

Read below about M-Wolverine. Someday I'll post my (respectful) email to Brian about reinstating M-Wolverine. Best poster here. I'd upvote you to my heart's delight if you hadn't said Big Lebowski is just ok. (Although you could've said you skip the drug trip scenes and I'd understand.)

I actually lean towards believing this conspiracy theory.  The conspiracy theory isn't that Wilkes-Booth didn't kill Abe Lincoln - that is not a debate.  There is a good theory out there that John Wilkes-Booth didn't actually die soon after getting shot by law enforcement in a barn.  That was actually someone else.  Wilkes-Booth lived and died until the late 19th century.

I think I see where Borges is headed, I kind of see why he called things the way he did, and I hope he sticks around because I think the end product will be great.

Despite that support for Borges, I liked watching RRod's offense and I just wish the Michigan powers-that-be focussed on pressuring RRod to place a handpicked defensive coordinator who would be free to call his own defenses rather than how it went down, because I think watching RRod and UMeyer playing Spread-chess would have been amazingly cool.

I'm glad OSU lost, obviously.  But I hope that Ohio and Sparty win big in their bowl games because I think in this day-and-age, you can't have a very successful program without being in a very successful conference.  So conference loyalty has become nearly as important as team loyalty for me.

Once we're very, very, very, good again, I wouldn't mind to see us do something different with the uniforms, even, gasp, the helmets, on very special occassions.

Once we're very, very, very, good again, that is.

I actually thought baseball was so boring that it was about to end because they would realize no one likes it anymore. I was very surprised later in life to find people still watch it.

People talking about beer and alcohol gets tiresome. I really don't care about what you think is great or terrible, or how microbrews are so superior...

I think the song could have been fine but it's literally the worst percussion part in this history of music.  It's what would happen if you let a 5th grader play what he wants.  A really lousy 5th grader.

Music in South Florida sucks

Lady Gaga is talented

I really like the candy Circus Peanuts

All forms of soft drinks are referred to as soda, hate it

Tiger won't reach Jack's major record unless he goes back to his previous ways

I like watching Rachel Maddow

I believe people who get married earlier than the age of 35 are complete fucking idiots. Are you really expecting to have a happy existence while living with the same roommate for 60 years?!?
