OT: College football preview magazine

Submitted by karlfink18 on

What's up guys I'm 17 years old and trying to start up a career in sports journalism.  Over the summer I wrote a 162-page college football preview magazine.  It includes two full pages of writing and predictions for every Power 5 team as well as playoff, Heisman, and All-American predictions.  You can check out the magazine at: https://www.scribd.com/doc/274116557/Karl-Finkbeiner-s-2015-College-Football-Preview-Magazine

You can also see my past magazines and articles at www.karlfinkbeiner.weebly.com

Please spread the word to everyone who may be interested.  Thanks and GO BLUE!

the owner of this site to ask permission before using it as your own personal marketing platform.  Of course if you did that already I'll just go ahead and shut the hell up.

Good luck by the way.  Good sports writers are not easy to come by.

How many binders did this require?  We are in a new era of competition on all things and I think you and WD can push each other to be better.  But if your binder count is below 30 you really need to rethink things.

Thanks for putting this together, and good luck with the sports journalism career. Tough, tough industry to break into, especially with the direction the journalism industry is going now.

Not that you shouldn't chase your dreams and necessarily heed the advice of some random dude on the internet, but I'd give this interest in sports journalism some real thought before you dive in head first. It's considered a dying profession for a reason. A relative of mine has been trying for years. He's covered a major college football program for the last several years, has freelanced for AP and the NY Times, and still can't find fulltime work. And he's a fantastic writer.

I hate sounding like "that guy", and if its what you really want to do, go for it, but just know the risks as well. Okay, off soapbox.
