OT: Colin Cowherd on ESPN today.

Submitted by Sione's Flow on
Did anyone else see Colin on ESPN today? His vitriol towards the UM fan base was almost on the level of RCMB. My question to those who've been on the board, longer than me, is this: what did we do warrant this level of disdain from this guy?

Yeah, he is a douche. I listened to that piece live. I couldn't believe how little he sounded. He was mad because some UM fans called him out. He called us desperate. I guess we are a little desperate.

He thinks it is ok to stereotype. He is an ass. He can be funny. The only reason I listen to him is because he likes Brady. He loves NE.

It was a little hard to listen. I almost called him. He is a turd who will kick a man when he is down. Ass.

Like most news on tv it's less about accuracy and more about sensationalism.  Cowherd is looking for ratings.   Does he get more by saying "at this time we've nothing concrete to report" no.  Just like this site and all over twitter, everyone wants instant gratification.  So he plays it up.  He pisses off Michigan fans, but is embraced by others... yet he also continues to get many that bleed Blue to return just to catch the latest slight.   Just ratings plot, journalism and fact checking went out a decade or two ago. By continuing to discuss him, he gets what he craves.  Not saying, just saying....

For some reason his derps draw me in sometimes.  But I hate it when cuts off or talks over callers that disagree with his viewpoint.  It doesn't matter if they have a valid point.  If it disagrees with his derping then he pulls the plug.  That sort of jackassery pisses me off.

I watched. At first, I was embarrassed for him. It was embarrassing. He made an ass of himself. Then, as he continued mocking UM fans, I became infuriated. At this point, I would pay to watch someone pop him right in the cocksucker. The guy is an ass clown. ESPN should be ashamed for employing that idiot.

In 2006, Cowherd plagiarized content from MZone and passed it off as his own. On the air. Word for word. Live. Without acknowledging M Zone.

Someone from the Michigan community got a hold of it and heck broke lose from the fanbase over it.

There were even some Brandon-esque emails floating around where Cowherd wrote that the fanbase was a bunch of "crybabies" for getting him in trouble with ESPN and having to apologize as a result.

After that, it's been open season on A2 from his bully pulpit. I haven't listened since. I don't know why you people do either.

Fox Sports radio has better content and guests than anything at ESPN anyway.

Cowherd loved him. Hates us for firing him. Loves the NFL. Hates the thought of us succeeding. Talking out of both sides of his mouth.
A study in Psych 201.
Not much more to say.
I quit watching him as of today.
Are you reading me Colin?

I actually used to like him. Some of his takes were decent, but if you listen to him too much you pick up that it's all forced schtick. I was shocked to hear Larry David admit he was a Colin fan on Bill Simmon's latest podcast.

As for why he's targeting UM. Top 5 revenue athletic department, top 3 alum network in the nation (especially prominent on the coasts he's obsessed with), late December and big name historic school yet to find new coach.

-cowherd is very ratings oriented

-he sees midwest college football recruiting as challenged due to weather

-he has strongly promoted Rosenberg, of course without mentioning stretchgate

-he is not always wrong.  But he strives to have strong opinions, probably for.ratings

No wonder his father (7x divorced) and mother (3x divorced) had to keep finding new partners.  Can you imagine living with that piece of crap as a child?  He probably was the reason for the divorces.  Hell, he couldn't even maintain his own marriage.  Dude obviously has problem maintaining relationships and it is no surprise why.

I seriously felt sports talk radio was making me dull. Finally it just became too painful and repetitive to listen to so I switched over to NPR while I drive. It's pretty obvious 95% of the guys are just bullshitting their way through their shows without a grasp of anything they're talking about. Same for NFL pre shows and College Gameday. All hacks. Mike & Mike might as well be a torture technique at Guantanamo Bay.

I vaguely remember him saying that his wife went to U of M.  This was several years ago...maybe he got a divorce or something.

I'll quote my last post on this:

Here's all you need to know about Colin Cowherd.

This is from Dave Dameshek's former podcast, Daves of Thunder. He's on the phone with Dave Feeney, the co-host (the tone of the podcast is these two guys ribbing each other, fyi. They go back and forth in the beginning). If you don't know Dameshek, he's a goofy Pittsburgher who now works for NFL Network. He's exceptionally funny at what he does.

Anyway, he used to work for ESPN and had the "privilege" of meeting Cowherd. It was...bizarre. Here's what he had to say:

Cowherd is one of the few sports personalities I legitimately hate.  I would feel nothing if he had a horrible accident that resulted in complete loss of his voice.

You get eyeballs with great analysis, sycophancy, and...

...hate. If you piss off a ton of people, that can get you a big boost. He'll make amends later--or not. Whatever brings in the cash.
