OT: Coffee Table Books
So my Google skills have failed me. I'm looking for a nice coffee table book (maybe something in leather) that chronicles the history of the University of Michigan. All my searches just pull up books of football photos, but I'm looking for something more along the lines of general history. Can anyone suggest some titles or publishers who specialize in this kind of thing? Thanks.
Edit: Just to clarify, non-sports related books on the U of M. This for an academic type that does not follow football.
That was the first thing that came to mind when I read the title too.
Anytime I can reference Seinfeld is a win in my mind.
I knew this was coming just by reading the OP's title. But the picture of the coffee table book was refreshing. Well played.
The president of the company, Mr. Lippman, has a great set of glasses, they're from Malaysia.
I'll tell you another thing, that guy in the picture looks like he's a little Bonkos...
The most relevant response and posted only 2 minutes after the original post. a mighty +1 to you sir.

This one's just the band, but it's still a pretty nifty read
What it means to be a Michigan Wolverine by Art Regner. The first entry is regarding President Gerald Ford.
The summary of that book made me want to slit my wrists:
"Since 1892, no Michigan football coach has ever had a losing career record." (book published 2005)
All the links in that thread are to Borders.
Guess I should have checked that before posting the link.
The Michigan Vault is certainly a well put-together package of history, although the actual story itself leaves much to be desired. The real star here are all of the little bells and whistles they throw in, like replica tickets and replicas of letters from Crisler, Bo, that sort of thing. It may not necessarily be the most interesting read, but it's certainly fun to browse through.
If you're in the Ann Arbor area, the Michigan Vault book mentioned by Six Zero is on clearance at the local Borders for $10. It's well worth that for the replica programs, letters, etc.
I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.
Just trust me on this one.

It's a bit larger than 12" x 15", so it would appear to be a coffee-table size publication.
That looks perfect. Thank you very much.
Hey, I had to help—I designed the original version of the book cover you're using as your avatar.

I appreciate the link and just bought a copy. Hard to go wrong for $6!
This one resides on my coffee table. It provides a decent history and has some great pictures as well.
Edit: Fail on my part, Don already posted the link.
It is called "The University of Michigan, A Photographic Saga," and was published in 2006 by The MilleniumProject at 2001 Duderstadt Center, Ann Arbor, MI 48109. It was put together by Ann Duderstadt (wife of President Duderstadt), and is EXACTLY what you said you want. I don't have a way to send you a picture of it, but I would think you could find it through the University. Good Luck
The University of Michigan, A Photographic Saga.
sounds like an opportunity for someone who takes pictures...:)
